Can probably get away with it in a friendly but not in an official game

I know mate, it's the questions they should be asking / demanding answers for. The why's? What were they looking to achieve? Why make it a one off if they believe in it etc otherwise there is still grey areas.

War in Ukraine?

It’s tricky ground isn’t it, but if your owners country is directly involved in a conflict that (from the outside) isn’t completely transparent who is in the wrong, to me it does come across as not being appropriate.

The war in Ukraine is a little bit different for me. There is a clear aggressor.

I understand the point (and FWIW I wasn’t massively keen on that being brought into the game at the time) but that was a case the league decided to support en masse as opposed to an owner determining it was a cause their club was going to be used to back.

At least when the league supports something there are the checks and balances that a certain number of people have to be in agreement that it’s a cause to support.

The dividing line here with this case seems to be less about the actual conflict (which not many of our fan base will be clued up on) and more whether you’re not ok with the club being used to promote a message of an individual’s choosing, or whether you blindly support it because you think that’s what a supporter does or through some mistaken faith to a multimillionaire owner.

Ukraine was also a league introduced support. Such like a couple of other examples folk are pulling out.

Worth noting that the Ukraine support actually led to some PL television coverage avross the world being played on delay, so Russia supporting nations could edit the coverage !

Fair point about the league wide bit, that’s also important.

Feel free to correct me, not trying to be controversial but in my eyes the two things don’t look the same.

Pretty depressing to see people defending this. It's also laughable to see the comparisons with league wide antiracism and antihomophobia initiatives.

Even more depressing seeing people go completely over the 'top' about this. Laughable really

I can't blame anyone for having an issue with the club that they've supported for their whole lives being used as a vehicle for foreign state propaganda. We all have our red lines.

The comments below The Foxes Trust post on Facebook are insane

"Did you poll any other city fans or just like minded people in a room trying to look relevant? People die in these wars out there. You want them to give give give to our 'local community' yet dismiss theirs.
Maybe its the 'foxes trust' who shouldn't be using 'the foxes fans' as a platform for its own political messaging."

The ones mentioning Neo Politics are Stop The Boats are interesting too.

We either want politics kept out of football or we don’t. I don’t care if it’s a league wide initiative or one club.

The dull truth is we want politics we don’t agree with kept out of football.

I support knee taking, rainbow laces, wearing poppies on shirts but accept completely that these are all comfortable politics for me.

There’s a difference from wide spread campaigns/traditions to owners using a football club as a mouthpiece for their own political agenda. But seems that the majority of Facebook users struggle with that concept.

The funniest thing about that is the Foxes Trust is a group of Leicester fans. You can join for as little as a fiver and have your say.

I’d say the latter are not political and it’s nowhere near a comparison

"People die in these wars out there" yet put a Tifo up blocking the players walking out and you get called every name under the sun.

But that’s just it, they aren’t political for you because like me you probably agree with them/don’t contest what they represent. But they are political.
