I do think Leicester is very fragmented when it comes to its city, suburbs and the surrounding towns. Lots of folk much prefer to say local for socialising compared to Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield which all act as a hub for nearby large towns/cities. 

I think you're right. Seems a bit of a Leicester thing. We can come over as being quite a dour, pessimistic bunch (might just be our accent though).

 

To your point about being outwardly proud of where you come from, this isn't just a northern thing. I've lived in Bristol for 28 years and it's the same here. 

 

In fact when I get asked where I'm from sometimes I without thinking say Bristol.....that's probably just the Leicester coming out of me though!

Find Bristol very unique in the South for that. Especially city pride. Find Southerners prefer to boast about their county or region as a collective. In the same away that the only folk from West Mids loud with their heritage is the Black Country which is difficult to define region!

I've not met anyone that say's they're proud, often the complete opposite, I think it's uniquely english to criticise your home town/city.  Sure they'll be exceptions.  I don't think it has anything to do with the atmosphere.  If you didn't love the club you wouldn't be paying the money to watch them.  I doubt a fan would say I'm going to sing a song now because I'm proud of where I live, or remain quiet because they aren't proud of where they live.  We're just a mild fanbase just like the vast majority of other english clubs.  People say geordies or scousers are proud of their home town/city...well the atmosphere is terrible at their grounds too.

You go around and ask people from here what they think of it, the majority will just say "shit, move somewhere else" etc..

The city gets talked down way too much by our own people. This filters through into the support of the club as well.

Tedious rhetoric, half of the city centre is genuinely decent these days- Highcross, Cathedral Quarter & The Lanes, Cultural Quarter. Redevelopment of the market place will hopefully link everything together. Just don't venture past Humberstone Gate and it's sound. 

 

There are far worse cities in this country with far better reputations.

Its the bi-weekly, hypnotic dosage for King Power cult followers of what we have achieved during their ownership, but with obviously no acknowledgement of the demise. The fans can't be blamed for booing. I don't myself as it feels too pantomime, but from the off there was plenty of "support" in terms of attempts to motivate the team and contribute to a good atmosphere. Unfortunately, again,  they've done the same to us in terms of conceding laughable goals.

Notice drum has moved up and more central? Is that to try and make sound more prominent? It started off well but a goal after 5 mins killed it all.. booing which is understandable and then we always back the lads? That song needs sacked off desperately in my opinion. Not a good look to sing that and then boo 5 mins later. 
 

Lots of new faces in the section today and if the result was better i think fingers crossed it may be better this year but my god has it got to change on the pitch..

Disagree on the not singing certain songs thing. It’s lyrics that all of a sudden folk take a view they are some oath. Leicester aint the greatest team the world has ever see , Iwan doesn't live in a council flat.

 

Tifo didn’t really hit as planned I don’t think, however it had a message I personally really can get behind.

The crowd was fine. Positive at the start, even forgave the early goal. But the patience snapped when another terrible display by supposed senior players, some of whom cost £14 million(!) were again left humiliated by players on a fraction of their income and the fans, seeing a repeat for the 15th time in two years, had had enough.

 

There is no point backing half these lads. They are failures who are shit and don't give one either. They cannot do the basics of the game, let alone anything creative or thoughtful.
