K789 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Can't warm to him. At full time yesterday he was just standing there in a sulk. Rather get rid and get someone hungry in 1
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 He literally changed the game yesterday. We went from the 2 dullest CM pairing of all time to lovely link up play between Winks and Bilal - he opened up that midfield area massively. Wouldn’t want to see him go…. 3
JonnyBoy Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 (edited) Winks goes and we don't replace with someone GOOD then we don't get promoted it is literally as black and white as that. Him and Ndidi leaving may as not bother for rest of the season Edited 11 August 2025 by JonnyBoy

Its inevitable, he already told people last year he would never play for the club again so we got lucky he actually played for us and helped win yesterday. I hope Marti can some how get it through to the thick head of Rudkin how badly we need quality in the centre.
kingfox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 His situation is a bit of a conundrum tbh, like a few players, he’ll be out of contract next summer. Cashing in now would be wise, we’ve let too many players leave for free in recent years, we need as many players in that situation out the door as possible. Or you give him a new contract, but with what he’s produced since being here, he can play a vital role in the Championship, but at Premier League level if we get promoted again, there’s too many question marks, he is probably best to go to a league where the pace of the game is slower. For the longer vision of Leicester City, Winks out and getting a younger version in like Siltanen would make sense.
TheGoldenGod Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Pretty funny the general opinion in this thread pre match vs post match... It's a no brainer if we can keep him to do so as the midfield is woeful and he's clearly the best in the role! We are running out of time for replacements.
dooflip Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 On his day, when he wants to be, a quality player. But a grade A tw@. Get rid, free up the wages, we can then look at bringing someone else in. To those here saying we shouldn’t sell because of his quality, we will be able to bring someone else in, don’t panic!

A new contract would be the correct answer, but only if he agrees to a significant pay cut and that’s not going to happen. He will believe he can do it at a premier league club and therefore be due a premier league wage. I think he can do that, but it’s got to be in a team that’s functioning and he’s not going to be a nailed on starter for any of them. But he will still get a better contract as a back up/ squad rotation option than we should offer.

Greg2607 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 there's a couple of things I noticed about Winks Yesterday..... firstly... (and this is obvious) he is ALWAYS available for the ball. Always in position and generally on the move in some way. That's critical for the way that we want to play, as he is difficult to pick up in that regard... just a 5 yard shuffle away from his man, means he has time to receive the ball and he is very good at protecting it when he has it. Secondly, he varies the speed at which he makes his pass. sometimes, we waits to draw the man on to him and at other times, it's a really sharp pass forward, changing the tempo of our play. That's a really clever skill, as it means the opposition can't get settled to our tempo. it's that, which means we create openings and catch players out of position. I don't see that variation with Skipp or Soumare... it's quite ploddy play. Ricardo does it a little... but we can't rely on his fitness. In terms of his PL suitability for Leicester. Last season was unfair to judge him on. He excelled in the Enzo system, it's what we bought him for... then he ended up with both Cooper and RVN that looked to use him differently. He isn't as capable in being the midfielder they wanted him to be. I rate Wink's ability. I'd be sad to see him leave. 3
Devonfox1884 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Let’s not go overboard about one good half against a team in absolute turmoil. £5m and sell for me - he’s replaceable. He’s in the priority group for departure alongside Faes, Vestergaard, BDCR and Soumare. 2
lgfualol Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Would prefer we sell if he’s going to sulk all season. Mardy arse.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 There's virtually zero chance we sell Winks and can get someone in as good.
Scotch Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 If a decent offer comes in, selling him is the right call. 1
Greg2607 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I appreciate that sell is the general consensus.... but imagine a future where we sell Winks... DON'T sign a replacement... and Soumare and Skipp are our starting midfielders for the season.... 1

Fox-LMA Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I appreciate that he could be a very important player to us in this division this season. In terms of our midfield he offers some very unique qualities. As shown in yesterday's game. However he will be 30 come the end of the season, has one year left on a monster contract (rumoured £90K) & he won't get another here at that level, & he's arguably not much use to us if we do go up. So if we receive offers between £7-10M we have to take it. No? Though I do concede that if he does, he will need replacing, & Brownhill isn't the same profile...

LE3_Fox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 If he goes, we're left with Soumaré and Skipp as the double pivot. Nightmare scenario. Keep him for a year, let him help us get back to the prem, then let him go on a free.
plinchiestincture Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Do that to me one more time Once is never enough with a man like you Wha-ha-ha, do that to me one more time I can never get enough of a man like you

Indeed I’d rather us get back to the right players with the right attitude The likes of Winks, Skipp, Vest and Faes wouldn’t be nowhere near the squad if Pearson was still here. 1
TheGoldenGod Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 13 minutes ago, JonnyBoy said: Who is as good for similar price that would come to us? There isn't. So short sighted from @Devonfox1884. We aren't going to have time to replace, we've signed no one and I imagine there's reason for that behind the scenes. 1
Edingleyfox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 My only worry from yesterday is that offers will come in. I know last season wasn't the best and maybe being dropped has been tough but yesterday within 2 minutes he seemed to have the midfield under his control. With Wilf leaving it would be too much of a loss IMO
