I think him looking woeful in the Prem has more to do with the side as a whole.  He's a player who thrives in a team dominating possesion where he can control the tempo.

Amen to that brother. It would have been a tough old season but appointing Cooper (and RVN) with the players we had was high level lunacy.

If our owners want to earn shed loads of money from getting promoted that far outweighs £10m then they better have a damn good replacement lined up because he was the difference maker today.

The guy is the only genuine attacking midfield player we have. He’s a class player unlike the workmanlike and uninspiring Skipp and Soumare. Winks changed the game today, kept us on the front foot. 
 

What happened at the end of last season was down to RVN being an idiot. Once he froze out Winks we were sunk.

 

If we sell Winks and don't replace him, promotion / play offs will be very difficult to achieve with no creative high tempo midfielders.

At this level he is more than good enough. Especially against the low block. 

 

But given his age, and his possible fallout with the club last year, if he receives a good offer he can go. We just need to ensure we have someone coming in.

 

From a practical perspective I don't think he will be nearly as effective in the prem. At least not for us. The press is so much better in the prem, and promoted sides have struggled against the press over the last few years.

As I said on another thread, we just don't have the personnel to play the CM that Marti wants. Bilal fits in but no one else is suitable for the ball winning #6 or box to box #8. 

 

He either needs to adjust his midfield as he done today when winks came on or look to sell both Winks and Soumare and replace them with players that fit. 

 

(No idea what we are gonna do with Skipp but we don't really have a choice there)
