420Hashish Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Stupid decision to sell if we don't have an adequate replacement lined up. 1
Popular Post Stopharage Posted 10 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 10 August 2025 Winks has clearly been our most talented CM since he’s been here. Last year he was played in systems that didn’t play to his strengths and you had people on here castigating the guy as if he should be playing in the National league. He’s a player that brings the very best out of his teammates when utilised properly. 7
em9999 Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Sell him I haven't forgiven him for last season .. Get a cm in on loan with option to buy lets not commit to bringing anymore crap into centre mid 1

Popular Post CornwallFox Posted 10 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 10 August 2025 Unbelievable comments earlier. Winks is miles better than skipp and Soumare and too good for the championship. People earlier talking about him in with so much disrespect, a bit like those booing Faes earlier, are terrible supporters. 14 1 1
Nalis Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Always thought Winks got a bad ride mainly due to falling out with Ruud. He's our best central non attacking midfield, not that its saying much mind 1
em9999 Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 The yardstick for any of centre mids should not be are they better than skipp or soumare Because on that premise my grandma should be in city's midfield and she's been dead 20 years 3 1
Claudio Fannieri Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Best of a pretty poor bunch of central midfielders, also I seem to recall first half of the championship season he was excellent but 2nd half was bang average. Yes he made a difference today but last season he was largely anonymous. I woipd happily sell the lot of current deep lying central midfielders and start again. All are woefully under performing for what they are being remunerated.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 10 August 2025 Posted 10 August 2025 Be bonkers to sell our best midfielder and only person to be able to keep things ticking over in the middle. Not sure we'd be able to get a replacement as good or even get promoted. 1
Popular Post Corky Posted 10 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 10 August 2025 Has to stay. Miles ahead of the other midfielders we've got. 6
VLC86 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I’ve said he’s got Brentford written all over him all summer.
VLC86 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Also, for those saying he has to stay. With the wages he’s on and being in the last year of his contract, we will likely have to move him on if we get a reasonable bid. We definitely need to replace him with a similar player though, the key today was him being decisive and quick with his decision making.
LVFox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I’ll happily see Winks stay, we saw yesterday that at this level, with the ball at his feet he can run games. He’s well worth keeping. I wouldn’t extend his contract though, I’d replace with someone like Hayden Hackney next season (this is presuming we go up, if not, I still think we replace). He can massively provide value for money this season if he helps get us up though. A wage worth paying at this point. The same doesn’t apply to Faes or Soumare at all, completely incomparable scenarios

Any fan getting overly emotional with Winks staying need to cast their mind back to the inability of the club moving on players and the huge negative PSR impact of not bringing in revenue from sales and continuing to pay massive wages we cannot afford. We’ve a points deduction on the horizon we shouldn’t shy away from selling any player and especially those that will have no intrinsic value come the end of their contract this summer. I like Winks he changed the game yesterday I would rather keep him but club should realistically be selling him and replacing him as he’s in his final year we can’t afford to keep hold of players letting them go for nothing in the hope they’ll be the difference in terms of promotion. That’s insane. 3

That’s insane. Yup, will be the same fans moaning about that now insisting he needs to stay. Every player in our squad is for sale at the right price, even more so a player in their last year on ridiculous money. The reality is, that next season we need to be in a position where potentially, our average wage is 20k a week at a max, and we are light years from that. 2
Reg Vardy Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Winks controlled the game when he came on……he is class at this level…..I don’t get all this not forgiven him…..keep him and BIlal in the team….best pairing in the division……I should point out, the two managers who pushed Winks into the reserves both failed, says more about them than Harry…. 2
teblin Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 He’s on big money, is a top player in this league, however if we get a bit anywhere near what we paid for him he will be gone. 1
PlymouthFox Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 I have never been a huge fan of Winks, but he was by far the best player on the pitch in the 2nd half. Giving him the freedom to have a more box to box role with Soumare staying deeper brought out his best, but I also think BEK is a bit more effective when playing a bit deeper than the number 10 role, especially seeing as he doesn't take any of the dead balls. So I wouldn't be against selling either Winks or BEK for PSR reasons and having the best interests of the club in mind moving forward, but what would be a huge loss and have a major impact on this season is if they both went. Up until yesterday I believed we had enough in our squad to negate the need to reinvest any sales income, but if BEK and Winks both get moved on, we are in trouble without bringing in at least one Brownhill esq type replacement.

That’s insane. Whilst true we shouldn't negate the quality of the squad to jeopardise promotion. It's a fine balance act. Hermansen, Coady and Ndidi is a good start but there others we should be moving on before Winks. I.e. Vesty, Soumare etc...
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 11 August 2025 Popular Post Posted 11 August 2025 His £10m transfer fee and wages make his outlay on the books this year well over £5-6m. He's a priority exit, along with about 8 others still. Get them all gone, I am sick of the sight of them. 9
Levi Port Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Didn’t acknowledge the fans when he went to warm up and didn’t clap at all after the game and went straight down the tunnel after his interview with sky. Looked miserable as well, recon he’s gone
Haywood_6 Posted 11 August 2025 Posted 11 August 2025 Need to keep him if we've any chance of being promoted. He was poor last season and too weak for the Prem but he excels at this level - in a position where we are really struggling based on yesterday's performance. Let him cook, he can go next summer.

It’s pretty obvious Winks is still the best midfielder in the team and we’d never get replacements in by the end of month. I’m all for giving the academy lads a go, but they are not of the same standard…yet. I’m all for the reboot, but there’s a risk you end up stuck in the championship with no parachute payments and your talent has all gone. 1
