Every club knows what to do to comply with it, it's just taken these owners far too long. A PSR that is 100% at their door. Ipswich's net spend last year basically outstripped our 3 highest transfer windows combined so let that sink in. We had a model of selling big players every summer to operate on a fairly modest net spend, and despite not signing many, if any decent players on free transfers or going after big names that forced us to overspend on wages, or even signing players to expensive contract extensions, we somehow ended up with a massive wage bill. We should never have been closed to failing PSR (as broken a system as it is).

Add to it that we were by far the most marketable club outside the Top 6, had pretty sustained success yet were languishing behind most clubs in terms of sponsorship and other commercial income. The sporting element has a large chunk of chance attached to it (though the dismantling of what was good to cede power to the likes of Rodgers was madness) but the commercial failings on and off the pitch are an utter embarrassment.

I think it's disingenuous when people claim they Vichai got totally lucky as he clearly did some very good things but you of course need a massive slice of luck. But for the past 5+ years, the failings off the pitch have been cataclysmic. That's not because of bad luck, it's poor management. Not sure how we credit the ownership for acting out of necessity in a situation of their own making?

Why is it disingenuous? He did do some good things but probably so has Aiyawatt. Our most consistent success came under him (after Vichai died). Vichai made Rudkin DOF which has contributed the failings that you speak of.

lets face it top could change most people's opinions of his ownership in one decision, if he moved Rudkin out tomorrow and replaced him with Dan Ashworth for example, people would be thinking he's completely engaged again.

A new CEO and DOF would be big step in the right direction

There is hope that with the summer just gone that Top is learning.

What have you seen to give you this impression?

Don't get this reply? You've literally just answered why it's disingenuous to suggest he was completely lucky as he did some good things. Which is also what I said?

Like it or not, luck is the biggest factor in being successful in life. It's the preparation/approach to situations that increases your odds of making the most of good situations or getting the opportunity again. We've done that terribly for the past few years hence we blew an amazing position and haven't been able to put in place the things needed to give us a good chance at capitalising on those opportunities should we get them.

Not just throwing more money at the problem. Getting a manager in who is giving opportunities to academy talent.

So anyhow, it seems to me we've slipped into this weird lull in the storm kinda phase.

Top and Rudkin have kept their heads down trying to ride it. We've offloaded a few but kept plenty too. Made some modest signings. Got a young potentially decent manager in.

My gut says we aren't in the sort of shape to do what we did last time. I hope I am wrong, I hope Top and Rudders prove me/us wrong. But I am struggling to see it. The track record is too long, the mistakes too many. But the wind is out of those who rallied against them (for now). We'll know a lot more 2 months down the line.

Yes !
The old phrase “Leopards don’t change their spots” springs to mind.

Like I said previously they only do something when they really have to !
There’s never a proactive move to be on the front foot in terms of anything they do.

Everything is reactive “oh we’re in debt we had better try to move some on”

“The transfer window is closing in a few days so we better get some in quickly”

King Power duty free is the same just drifting with no captain on board

Mandaric's tenure was an absolute basket case. Relegation to League One for the first time ever, open warfare between him and a manager he hired just weeks before, scattergun recruitment based on absolutely nothing concrete that went entirely over the manager's head.

What we have now is not perfect but the transfer window we have now at least shows signs that the club knows what it wants to do to comply with PSR and rebuild.

There are loads of things it could improve on and, yes, there are likely to be a number of better prospective owners out there. But there are loads, loads worse. Mandaric was one of them without a shadow of a doubt.

We can all pick parts to sell a story.

Like the union with Pearson, the quick promotion back to the Championship, the finding of King Power the owners that some people will worship forever.  The ability to actually speculate in the transfer market instead of the basket case we was post admin.  Mandaric was a football man, that much was obvious.  He tool the relegation to heart, and it was nice he did that interview.  Still waiting for such an interview from the worshipped Top.

Top's main achievement in recent years as it least the losses are not all being turned into new debt on the club.  But decision making lets not beat around the bush, its a complete shit show.  Recruitment isnt any better either, buying players not suited to tippy tappy whilst imposing tippy tappy on the manager.  Commercially the management has been diabolical, win the EPL, win the FA cup, and commercially we no better than a 15th placed EPL team.  The only increase in revenue was from TV money linked to success and it obviously went to pot when that success ended.  The failure to expand the stadium is an absolute brain fart.

Instead of looking to exploit FFP we do a self imposed embargo instead, and then have to suffer years of an after shock from it.

Its a basket case right now.

I can only comment on what I’ve seen personally and it’s pretty quite a lot of time outside the stadium when it’s not a match day. A traffic jam every rush hour next to the stadium with the shop car park over that road with no pedestrian bridge is a pretty woeful set up for a commercial enterprise. Needs a club shop key holder sleeping onsite for whenever something controversial/awesome happens and fans congregate around the stadium with bulging wallets.

How thick are our fans ?

We've lost 70M  every season for the past five seasons

As a club we don’t have a good culture anymore because that would mean hard work, effort and commitment from the captain of the ship ie Khun Top and he’s idle.

We have a lazy owner who is clueless at running a football club alongside his director of Football that was an ex-youth coach.

We have JV who has had disputes with two managers and he’s still at the football club

We have Harry winks who blatantly refused to stay at the training ground via previous manager and he’s still here

We have no transfer plan which leads to us making rash decisions, a scattergun approach to recruitment that has gone on for several seasons

There’s no structure and no idea of how to progress as a football club.

We have a disinterested owner that is more interested in playing on his horses and at polo matches

We had two previous managers in Cooper and RVN who had no support whatsoever and were thrown under the bus.

And yet !!!

its always someone else’s fault !

Cooper

RVN

Marti ?

No its KP through and through

Wake up !!!!!!
