I have just re-read the Chairman’s message from the Sheffield Wednesday programme and aside from trying to decipher Anthony Herlihy’s poorly drafted word salad, if you read between the lines, I think we are going to see little to no signings, perhaps loans at best.

Here’s the relevant paragraph:

Despite the challenges of recent seasons, our ambitions as a Club remain and we are capable of achieving. Right now, we appreciate that to be realistic about our immediate position and that we need to rebuild a foundation that will lead to return to previous heights quickly, yet sustainably. Our squad is evolving and is building a new identity, with a strong connection from the Club’s Academy, and it’s important that fans know how important it is for you to feel represented by the players on the pitch and how important that connection will be in building the kind of home form that will lead us to future success.

I read this as the club planning to ‘rebuild’ relying on Academy players.

I read this as AI generated nonsense, has that really been published in the programme!?

I've read that through 3 times and the grammar doesn't make sense at all, especially in the second sentence.

Who signs this stuff off?  lol

Yes it really was. It’s awful isn’t it. His baby Nepo face on the cover as well, terrible optics.

By the time he's gone he will have almost certainly presided over the biggest decline of a football club in my lifetime. People in our own ground still high five him as well. I'd want a statue of him outside the ground if I supported Cov.

I wonder if Aiyawatt writes his programme notes in his mother tongue, Thai. His notes do read like a poor translation.

Evolving ?

We still have the same dross we can’t sell or can’t be bothered to terminate contracts ?

Vestergard

Faes

Winks

Daka

Bobby Reid

As for identity let’s change the identity entirely and get the owner to sell up and go

Just go !!!!

That would explain it, and suggests that he does write the notes himself and it’s not done for him

In my insomnia thought churning state, I've been thinking about Top and a pattern of what is happening.

Could it be that Top is really miffed and 'hurt' by the anti board chants last season and is now thrown his toys out the pram and decided to neglect us? Let us sell our big players and just do the bare minimum with as little investment as possible and then put us up for sale? The players know this so don't give a hoot about playing so they are doing the bare minimum as well.

Problem is the level of incompetence from the board last season with the choice of manager, the signings and the previous wages are the reason we are hear and the fans unhappy. If he had sorted it out after the first relegation, and made sweeping changes to the footballing side, then we would probably be in a stronger position.

I just cant see us getting any better. The whole club is in a negative spiral and the only way I can see any amount of change is if he sells. Massive gamble, but one we need to do. Look at Leeds, look at Brum. See how a change can be such a good thing.

We need change, and a whole raft of it. If not, we'll be a mid table forgotten championship team or possibly worse.

I think it’s more incompetence and ego rather than deliberate sabotage to get back at the fans.

That said, Chansiri seems to have tanked Sheff Wes out of spite due to the criticism he has received and they quite similar individuals so I could see it being a trait that Aiyawatt has in him.

What’s driving me mad is the silence from the club, if we are as broke as I believe and we’re not going to spend any money at least communicate with us and we could understand and maybe work together and expectations can be lowered.
There is resentment growing from both sides it seems and it’s not going to end well.

Vichai will be spinning in his grave watching how his son has destroyed what he built. Vichai made mistakes as well but I'm absolutely certain we wouldn't be in this mess if he was still here.

People always say this but no proof that we wouldn't be in this mess either. When he was alive we chucked money around, and didn't even make top 6, until Pearson came back (the man they fvcked off and replaced with Sousa who had us in a relegation battle). Without Pearson wanting to come back we don't achieve anything anyway. After Vichai died we were more of a constant success, two top 6 finishes plus winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

He might not have known football but he was a shrewd businessman. He would have seen straight through a charlatan like Rodger’s for example. The huge majority of signings for example under Rodger’s and Top just didn’t remotely show any good business sense for example and it’s largely because of this we’re in the mess we are!

This is an incredible level of hyperbole.

Bordeaux were in Ligue Un three years ago and now are no longer a professional team.

The club is headed in the wrong direction but the biggest decline ever is just not true

Looks like Aiyawatt is selling the club but doing it player by player.

We won't get it sadly. As much as I constantly bang a drum with others about it.

Culturally, they can't admit responsibility. This whole scenario is born out of South East Asia business culture. They are completely on the back foot aswell domestically. If you look at SE Asia owners, it's failure after failure because of high risk, gambling esque thought process and they work in a culture where their own business don't compete or they are not challenged.

There have been 5 Thai owners in English football in living memory.

Manchester City - went very wrong, were saved in the most fortunate circumstances you could imagine. An initial cash drop of millions before a government coup.

Sheffield Wednesday - currently in crisis, again initial throwing money around.

Leicester City - we know

Reading - a very short spell of two years which include a playoff final loss but they did get a lot of money as a result of buying a lot of land around the stadium.

Oxford United - actually did a reasonable job before selling off to Indonesian businessman.

True, that's one example, do we know of any others?

We haven't finished falling yet, that's for sure.

Likes of Leeds or Blackburn along with to lesser extent Derby or Ispwich or Saints or Charlton dropping to League 1.  However I do agree with your point that we sadly have not finished our fall and the outcome could be us being up there on the biggest decline.

90% agree, depending on who buys it. I want Top gone, but I dont want someone equally as bad or worse taking over

Don’t think anyone buying us will be as bad, think we either end up with American ownership or Middle Eastern..

The sooner these charlatans leave the better.

The point I made back in about 2021/22 and got hammered for on here was our owners haven't acted any different to those horror stories either. The approach they took to get us up was so close to making us a Derby. People just ignore that.

The decisions made by the regime under Pearson and co made them look like these incredible owners that they never were. They even made sure Pearson was gone before they got in. Then the comical non sacking of him etc.

Decision after decision was incredibly dangerous and it felt like it was always going to end up like this eventually.

They will never reveal the state of the club’s finances as it makes them sitting ducks. It would also panic the remaining pro Top parts of the fanbase

I am speculating because it is so badly written. If it is not his musings then it’s worst than we can imagine, honking 🤣

Leeds is the only one in this country it can be compared to IMO.
