People downplaying this, what do you get from it? Ignoring the local bragging rights (huge for anyone based in the West/South of the county), tomorrow could really set the tone for the season ffs. Lose it and the feeling in the camp and more importantly the fans will change dramatically. Things are starting to improve on that front but it will look very different if we lose to our biggest rivals in the league at home and sink down to upper mid table. Win it and we're right in the pack after 15% of the season gone and wind in our sails after a derby win, the whole thing galvanises.

It's huge ffs.

I agree with the sentiment of this and to the fans (or at least the majority of them including me its huge). What i would question though is the assertion that lose this 'and the feeling in the camp will change dramatically'. I really dont think the players, or this set of players, have that 'feeling' in the first place. I really dont believe that so called 'derbies' have the same effect as they used to on players anymore, and I think that stems from the club not really having an identity amymore (at least to the players) and for them its just another game.

I think people would rather turn up tomorrow, act all nonchalant and sit there with their arms crossed in a huff rather than let some neanderthal from down the M69 have the satisfaction of knowing that we actually do care.

Get into um. Needs to be a good atmosphere tomorrow.

There's going to be a great atmosphere in our end even if we're losing. If the home support are up for it the atmosphere should be electric.

We should go in to every league game this season with the mindset that we are going to win it.

In my opinion, we have one of the best squads and starting 11’s in the league. Hopefully this is the game that we start to believe it.

I would say our midfield is one of the strongest if not the strongest. Grimes runs the show from DCM, Torp and Rudoni in front and always looking at shooting and getting in the box with Mason-Clark and Sakamoto tying players in knots. Add to this we have Van Ewijk who loves running past players from RB. Between them they have 7 goals and 6 assists in the league.

If you manage to stop them we still have Wright up front. He has 5 goals so far. If we need even more pace we can bring on Thomas-Asante who has 2 goals and 2 assists.

Hopefully as you're at home you will try to attack. We've had 2 sides try to attack and 3 play with their backs to the wall. Scored 12 against the 2 attacking sides and drew the other 3.

All that quality and goals, and you’re still below us in the league? Lampard needs the sack!

After watching us against Birmingham I expect we will sit back and just look to frustrate you like we did with them

It'll be like the Birmingham game I would have thought. Very tight and cagey.

The team will literally be the one that played against Brum btw. Only change possibly is Ricky P at RB and throw Hamza into the midfield for Skipp.

I've just been sick, playing with 10 is bad enough, playing with a midfield 2 that hide from the ball and have almost no ability to read the play would be suicidal.

That is basically what we do now with Soumare and Skipp in 99% of matches

We won't be playing with Skipp and Soumare as the midfield two again this season unless injuries/suspensions force us into it.

I think Hamzas attributes are wasted at RB in my opinion and we cannot afford to have someone of Ricky's qualities on the bench if he's fit so that's the only change he might make. I feel Hamza has played well so far this season but that's where I'd deploy him.

Just to be clear it's not the team I'd play but I don't envision a world where Marti changes much considering the gameplan vs Brum worked wonderfully.

I hope you're wrong but certainly see where you're coming from with regards to Marti's mindset.

It’s a shame that we’re going into this game with Skipp and Soumare as our established midfield duo. At some point MC will surely realise he has to change it and bring in Winks, James or both.

Even if Winks and James start this game they won’t have built up an understanding or have any momentum. I suspect, however, that they won’t start.

We’ve got away with playing S&S so far this season to some extent, but CCFC are a step up in quality. I worry this is the game we’ll be truly found out and it might take a few more before Marti makes the obvious changes required.

Coventry are a completely different side to Birmingham and will pose a very different kind of challenge. The Birmingham home game was therefore not a template for how to play against Coventry. The Skipp/Soumare combination was borne of necessity, not choice. Marti stuck with it last weekend but it didn't work and he had to change it at half time. At least one of Winks or James will start in midfield for us tomorrow, and possibly both.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that's the two tomorrow. In fact, i'd put money on those two starting.

Skipp possibly, not Soumare. In fact I don't think we'll see much of Soumare at all from now on.

Surely the manager has realized as soon as Winks comes in we are so much better in midfield and also Ricardo is just a different class, both have to start.
