I was visiting the Natural History Museum, in the stages of Human evolution bit, I recognised the arched neck and furrowed brow of the grunting “Coventrus Fanaticus”. In another room they had a picture of their cup win too.

Was their cup made of wood or stone?

BBC Sport article from yesterday (East Midlands Today):

Leicester City stalwart Hamza Choudhury said the Foxes have got "a job to do" against local rivals Coventry City on Saturday. Just 25 miles of M69 motorway separate the two clubs who, after years playing in different divisions, are now sparking new life into an old rivalry based not just on geography but promotion ambition too.

"Derby games are always good to play in, they're the ones you look forward to", Choudhury told BBC East Midlands Today. "I think it almost died down a bit because we didn't play for them for so many years, so it almost got bypassed, but the two meetings two seasons ago reignited it. We're looking forward to it and we've got a job to do it."

Leicester City squeezed past Coventry City in their season opener in 2023 only for the Sky Blues to return the favour later in the season. Now, with the Championship campaign still only a matter of weeks old, just one point and two places divide the pair in the push for promotion, which Choudhury said is Leicester's only goal.

"The stature of the club, the players along with the manager means there's no hiding from it and promotion is what we expect," he said.

No Mavididi today pleaseeeeee. Not a clue what anyone sees in the guy at all. Absolute momentum killer and absolutely terrified at the prospect of trying to beat a man or hit the ball cleanly.

it's a mystery to me how a player can go off so badly.  He is a shadow of the player who played in the Championship under Maresca.  Since he has had a haircut I actually refuse to believe it is Mavididi, not the same player at all.

He is a player that needs the ball played high up the pitch with some forward momentum. KDH provided that. When JJ was playing on the left he never passed the ball forward, Mav had to drop deep, becoming useless.

Marti hasn’t got the fullbacks doing anything other than a back pass, until Ricardo comes on.  Having Thomas behind Mavadidi doesn’t help as he always looks to pass sideways and back. The issue is when Mav gets a chance he does 8 step overs standing still, when he runs with the ball he can do something.

He is also a bit of a mope when things don’t go his way.

It's just like those who try to pretend it isn't a big game tomorrow. They're just preparing for a defeat just in case.

There's certainly some truth in this, but in our case it also very much depends on proximity to Coventry and Nottingham. Derby seems to be the lesser of the three rivalries at present but the same applies to them.

Got be honest, I am nervous about this match, mainly because we’ve not hit any kind of convincing form and Cov look more dangerous then us. We’ve got to start with Winks, and James to give us another option going forward, other than the wingers. Hopefully we have enough to win🏆🏆🏆, but I’m not totally convinced!

I’m nervous now, not going to lie. This is the best chance they’ve got of beating us at home.

We’re vulnerable, and they’re capable…… so I’m concerned.

Id be less concerned if we could all sit here and say Ricardo, Faes, Winks, James and Carranza will all start… however, we all know deep down, the team will be exactly the same as it was V Oxford, with the only change being Ayew playing in the ten, and potentially Carranza up front.

I think Marti is going to go completely reserved until he is 100% satisfied that he’s got control of this team. We will likely sit deep and let Cov try to break us down and hit them on the break. I’m going to go with 2-2 draw. Cov will end up 2-0 up and once Marti brings on the likes of Ricardo, Winks, James and Carranza we will turn it around.

I’ve just got a feeling that Marti will be more pragmatic than we probably want him to be.

Don't like the bloke, hate his attitude & he's massively prone to brain farts but a measure of the rest of the defence is that id happily take Faes back in the starting line up.

Ricardo, Faes, Vesty, Thomas

Would be my ideal defence.

If we set up with the right team, like Winks etc, we'll smash these.

But I fear we wont...

Imo today is the day it either all comes to together and we have our first complete 90 minute performance win comfortably

OR we never get going and their players come out like rabid dogs and we limp to a pathetic loss.

Nah - that will be the next game.

Today will be horrible. Im up for it, but under no illusions we are going to boss this. I think mostly likely we grind out 1-1 today.

Have you even seen the odd shoot to suggest we've got another level, I've seen commitment but I've not seen much that's made me think "Ah, it's gonna click soon"

I think with a midfield of Winks and JJ we become a different beast, but if we line up with Skipp and Soumare in midfield then we're not suddenly going to turn into some dominant force, because simply we're not

I'd just take seeing some attacking intent in the first half and not going into limp mode if we do get a lead.
