I think best for the first 30 minutes is probably a bit generous, you came out fast and were pressing hard, there was a lot of effort which I wouldn't necessarily equate to being the better side.

Also hopefully we get to see the best midfield trio in the league when we play next, because the 3 of them couldn't get anywhere near Winks.

We were all out of shape. Mason-Clark was injured so Wright was on the wing. Fatawa was very good. Rushworth was our best player. Just about everyone else were very average.

What an attacking conundrum we have.

Was talking to my Dad about this yesterday, and the consensus was that we are not even that good, barely clicking, but still 4th.

To summarise...

How crap is this league to be in this position of fluking the wins we have, or how good is our manager to keep squeezing the best out of this lot? We should be mid-table and we know it.

I predicted mid-table at the end of the season and I'm sticking by that based on what I've seen this season, regardless of the results we have produced.

Hey all! Anyone got any links to the Lei v Cov highlights? Can't seem to find them on The National League Show on ITVX. We're we missed off the bill? lol

Cheers

We got about 45 seconds 😂

Winks and Fatawu must be the best in their position in the league.  Perhaps the same goes for Ricardo

Our centre backs should be among the best in the division

Stolarczyk is more than good enough.   Thomas is okay.  Mavididi is a high level for this league.  If James and Ramsey do ok, we have a pretty good team for the division except at centre forward.   I hope Carranza comes good

Well I think, we will click and will get automatic promotion or play-offs dependent on points deductions. And that’s on what I’ve seen of this league. We will then, as last season be in a god awful mess.

I like Ayew and he has an important role to play this season but he's simply not a striker. We don't build up attacks with him up front. Especially with Mavididi and Fatawu refusing to get beyond him. The only time that happened on Saturday led to the biggest chance of the match.

Carranza did enough to show that he's got that instinct of sitting on the last man and moving in between the centre halves to warrant starting against WBA for me.

Ayew should either link the play a bit deeper or come off the bench.

We lost a lot when James was subbed off IMO. We should have taken Winks or Soumare off and dropped James deeper.

Winks absolutely ran it on Saturday

His slow build up killed us. Especially in the second half. The amount of times the team decided to play backwards when we had beaten their press was maddening.

The likes of Vestergaard and Winks seem to only want to play in the way that showcases their talent of standing on the ball and passing it 5 yards. We'll not score many goals this season when the aim is apparently to keep a 95% or higher pass accuracy stat.

How many times did Winks pop the ball in behind Torp and Grimes? It just doesn't happen with him and that style of play makes us easy to defend against. We're much better when we get our wingers running at the opposition in space. Our best players are at their best when we are chaotic but Winks doesn't allow that to happen.

Winks doesn't or Marti doesn't?

Seems to me that it was a tactical choice to play a bit more Enzoball on saturday, given how dangerous Cov can be on the counter - we saw how direct they were throughout the match - I'd wager we put a lot more emphasis on stopping transitions (the trade off being less explosive attacks of our own). And it worked, because we largely reduced Cov's chances and had we been more clinical would have had a win again

Not a bad point on Saturday overall, as Coventry are a good side at this level. The unbeaten home record against them continues for the 24th year.

Glad we've been able to maintain this record - but in fairness, it took 41 years for a Leicester team to win an away league match at Forest.

They were nothing special on the day and we should have beaten them. It was nice to see an open game, Lampard clearly a manager who wouldn't go somewhere and defend, but for me it's 2 points dropped rather than 1 gained.

Had we started with Soumare and Skipp I guarantee we'd of had absolutely zero control in the middle of the pitch against Grimes, Rudoni and Torp.

I suppose it depends if you'd like to control a game against an opposition or take the game to them.

I don't see much point in passing between the centre halves in home games against sides we should be beating. We don't take the game to the opposition enough as it is but it's painful when Winks, Vestergaard and Faes just pass the ball to each other for 90 minutes.

Our xG per 90 this season is 1.55 and our xGA is 1.47. Doesn't feel particularly controlled to me considering our wage bill dwarfs the rest of the division. Especially considering we've not played a good side yet.

Our xG+/- improves when Faes and Winks are playing though

I wasn't able to go but managed to get it on the phone to watch, admittedly while downing a few pints.

Thought we looked much improved to be honest, even on some of our earlier wins this season we've looked a poor side but from what I saw we looked much more controlled, and this was against a side who I think will definitely be top 6.

There's still a way to go for us to improve I think but some green shoots are emerging, and we haven't fallen behind anyone considered a favourite at the start of the season.

It wouldn't surprise me all that much if we were mid-table but isn't it a little contradictory saying how crap the league is and that we haven't clicked, but still anticipating us being mid-table..?

We were terrible last year and that's obviously massively responsible for people's general feeling, but Marti seems to be doing a good job with the limited resources he has been given.

Our squad has a lot of quality that is at the top end of the championship even if it isn't really good enough to sustain it in the top flight. I think in spite of the fact we were here only a year ago, many have forgotten how big the drop off is. Finishing in particular I would say is levels below, you get away with so much defensively at this level that you don't in the PL.

That’s fair enough. Just not overly disappointed at this stage with a point against a side who during the course of the season will likely be challenging up there again.

Really?

Didn't you notice Wright coming in from the left? Thomas-Asante helped out with defending as much as he was up the other end of the pitch. He would normally be in the middle up front if Fatawa wasn't so dangerous to us when Wright comes in from the left. We had an extra player on both your wingers. The best 2 players you had.
