Only 6 months later, we want him gone. But can we afford to sack him? Internet research says that Cifuentea is supposedly on a £1.1m contract that expires in 2028. Doing the maths he has 2.5 years remaining, meaning it will cost us something we don't likely have to sack him. Unless Aiyawatt suddenly finds money in the coffers, or Marti leaves on his own accord, he is probably staying put. Going to post this now and see who instantly shoots me down. Go for it! 🙏 You would hope we have written clauses into his contract which mean we don’t have to pay the whole amount up if we sack him, but this is Top’s Leicester City so probably not. 1

I imagine we were probably struggling to find someone to pay up the full release clause for him? Which was basically what we would have needed last summer to make it worth it for us From Bilal himself - “And I’m satisfied, even though, to be honest, it wasn’t easy this summer. It was difficult to find a way out of Leicester; they didn’t make it easy for me. Depends whether we can trust them to put a deal through pre-june 30th to sort it, we were on the edge with the KDH deal (and it sounds like that didn't even help us out in the end either) Fatawu is the only one I can see us getting enough money for that would potentially help rectify us PSR-wise and it would likely end up with us being taken advantage of in that period because clubs will know we are very desperate for it to happen 1

Indeed, we haven't got Mandaric to bank roll us some top loan players and others similar (Tunchev), if indeed by some twist of fate and terrible form we do end up in League One next season....nor Nigel Pearson as a rookie mamanger as back in 2008-09.
Corky Posted 24 January Posted 24 January We are a difficult club to manage but he is doing a terrible job at it. 1

They are absolutely stupid enough to do that Matty Fryatt was saying after the game today that he thinks the club probably don't even see relegation as a potential outcome this season Going to be 22/23 relegation from the Prem all over again where they finally realise it can happen but it will be too late 13
Spudulike Posted 24 January Posted 24 January Not just about the managers contract but also his assistant(s). That said, other Championship clubs change managers as necessary (eg. Norwich, WBA).
sm1 Posted 24 January Posted 24 January 13 minutes ago, moore_94 said: You never usually have to pay out the full value of the contract when sacking managers, but we still probably can't afford what it would be anyway Normally pay 12 months salary, which should be covered by the wages we're saving with Faes. Its tight but we either get rid or he takes us down. The equation is pretty simple for Topkin.

You’ve lost 4 points against Coventry (our biggest derby of the season), you’ve been out thought and out fought by every manager you’ve faced this season - even the ones you’ve been luck to beat. But bemoan fans being angry, frustrated, disappointed and pissed off because you’ve conceded another goal to go 1-0 down against ****ing Oxford. Have a bit of decency, we’re bigger than you. Brenfox Posted 24 January Posted 24 January I genuinely don't think we would have been any worse off if we had stuck with Ruud. I'm not a fan by any means but the managerial appointments have been totally shocking. I cba to list them but it makes for grim reading. Whoever comes next will suffer the same fate I feel unless its an older head with some "kick up the backside mentality" until the end of the season. 2 1
Parker Pen Posted 24 January Posted 24 January Just sack him! It’s awful to watch and that’s supposed to be entertainment? If you find ( or if we had appointed this season) a more competent manager then a points deduction doesn’t even become a. Problem does it? Worked out by Matt Bloomfield who was responsible in part for Luton’s double relegation last season! Let that sink in and realise how shit Marti is tactically.
