I cannot believe how poor some of the match awareness has been on this tour.

This is the poorest Australian side you’ll ever see, and somehow, we just hand them wicket after wicket…

The Aussies has such a low opinion of England that they have put Labuschagne on bowling slow long hops to a village field again.  Surely even our batsmen won't be stupid enough to fall for that twice.

That run out is absolutely typical. Bethell not really at fault, but Smiths call. (slightly tarnishing an otherwise top class innings)

Yeah but when you play like we do it’s not all that bad a tactic. You only need to time one wrong and there’s a catching chance, come down the pitch and miss one and there’s a stumping chance. They know they’re so far ahead and aren’t going to be chasing that many the runs aren’t an issue. 
 

Otherwise, great to see Bethell get his 100. Will certainly beg the question of why he wasn’t in from the start. 
 

Also really lovely to see the shots of his family in the stand and just how proud they were. 
 

Along with Roots 100’s and Stokes bowling, that’s about all we can take from this series.

Great stuff from Bethell, isn't his second innings average incredible? First innings average is abysmal mind.

 

Not enough though, needed someone to go big with him. Ifs and buts but if Brook stayed in there may have been a chance. 

 

I think Stokes is almost a number 8 batsmen now.

I don't understand that effort from Will Jacks at all. Has shown stickability in his other knocks, then comes out second ball and does that? All it needed was someone to stay with Bethell, who looked unbeatable. Ridiculous.

 

In isolation, not a bad day's batting, but don't think we have anywhere near enough.

He's no worse a spinner, for sure. Still astonishes me they have persisted with Bashir for two years with this series in mind, only to not play him once. Wouldn't surprise me if the lad never plays another first-class match.
