The club are struggling to keep minium wage staff employed how the can we afford to keep any players

Begs the question. Who pays for this total mess

That’s a huge question because with the way the rules are structured in league one the only way a club structured like ours doesn’t break the rules is through an owner lumping in money as equity. Something we are all assuming can’t/ won’t happen. But where does that leave us?  Not only are the wages a huge issue the training ground costs alone are monumental.

If king power have accepted that they need to sell the club, they may take a calculated gamble. Pump in 50mil , keep enough of the club together to keep it an asset, gain promotion and sell when we are back in the championship. Because the alternatives are sell sea grave, all the assets and be left with a shell nobody wants …. Or play an absolute blinder and find someone  willing to buy us… but with the over hanging loans on top of all of this, nobody with a jot of financial nous will come near us.

one of the reasons you got interest from saudis in Newcastle was because of all the financial wriggle room because of a decade  of no investment. It allows them to actually go in and do what they want. Who would want to take over a plaything that severely has its hands tied together. We simply don’t hit either the rich play thing or quick buck investors and then what’s left…. Someone for the love of the game but nobody even slightly decent would be wanting us, it would be asset stripping or money laundering.

But yeah would be class to keep souttar lol

On Friday he played as if there was no pressure on him, because there was really no pressure on him. He'd not played for us for so long, so could rise above the sh1t show and just play some football, mostly in preparation for the World Cup. It also helped that Millwall, regardless of this amazing season theyve had, were largely appalling and he could eat up most of their crosses.

But there have been countless times, for many teams, where players come back and perform well for a game or 2. I think this fixture really suited him and to some degree Millwall probably presumed he wouldn't be playing.

If he was playing week in and week out and needed to be a fundamental part of ensuring we were playing to any sort of potential, and he had to deal with fatigue and fitness issues across 40 + games, would we see him playing consistently at the same level? I think the better championship teams would end up adapting once they had worked him out a bit.

Was good to see though, but im not getting all over excited that he was some sort of missing link.

He is a proper defender though, who attacks the ball. We haven't had that in a long time because we have become obsessed with over technical players, who are over coached in what is a relatively simple game. Unfortunately we spent 3 years obsessing over passing it out from the back and having 75% domination of the ball, which is utterly useless if you don't pass it forward, are unable to clear the ball from your own defence and are unable to put the ball into the oppositions net.

He's a different kind of player, with a different mentality one we have been missing, largely why several of our managers have side-lined him. He been treated appallingly by the club, he may have been shop windowing himself, but he gave a lot more promise than I have seen from anyone else in that squad for 2 years. Its a mentality thing to want to get to a ball first, notice on the goal he scores Daka stands ball watching, we never ever attack the ball in the oppositions box, or ours for that matter, first time we see that, its no small coincidence it looks a bit better!

You can tell he played well as I don't think I've read any mention of that free kick he pumped out of play.

If winks did that, it'd have been mentioned about 100 times lol

Absolute pleasure watching a defender that can first and foremost defend. More of that kind of player please.

If we can get a decent fee then i'd sell him. Purely based on the fact we need money and he's unfortunately really struggled with injury and we don't need to be taking that kind of risk on players. Would be more than happy to see him thrive elsewhere though.

He's not a missing player with our magic code, he's just a defender who can actually defend and be a threat in both boxes, it automatically makes him head and shoulders ( literally) better than anyone else we have.

He's the sort of player we'd love as he suits the style we used to have. Nasty, tenacious and cares. Would love to have him in league 1 🤞

Those staff you can just get rid of, unfortunately. That's the difference between the two.

The staff at the bottom of every business pay for the bad performance of those at the top.

Radcliffe at Man United has made decisions like cutting meals and cutting £100 bonuses for office staff. Whilst Tan Hag and Anorim get pay offs in the millions.

I don't think a lot of people quite grasp how much the trouble the club is actually in .. if anyone thinks removing minimum wage staff is any solution

Just makes the club look even worse than it already does

Soon see

Yes showed more determination and professionalism in one game of football than the majority of our shambolic players showed in 2 seasons.

Quite frankly he's better than the shite he had to play with on Friday.

Good luck to the lad

Even if hes not here next season, hopefully that performance will of generated a lot of interest and get us a decent transfer fee

We might just scrape back his book value. Maybe.

Demand will increase if he goes to the World Cup and proves fitness.

For a player who’s been out for 16 months, Souttar’s performance on Friday was very good. The type of defensive display we’ve missed all season, so it’s a real shame he only featured in the last home game. If we can keep him for League One, and he stays injury free, that would almost be like having a new signing going into next season. He’s better than that level though.

Of course it isn't the solution but it's what businesses do always. Seen it happen at multiple places friends and family work in the past year, and with these morons in charge, there's no way they grasp the situation we're in so when the cuts come, certainly won't be to the areas that make the most impact

I’d still sell, just as I’d sell any current player.

Not one of them represents value for money either in terms of the fee we paid or the wage we pay.

All could be replaced by cheaper alternatives

Solid again yesterday. Only player in team who attacks the ball with his head

It’s crazy to think we haven’t had a player that does that since Maguire/soyuncu

Largely agree.  With the youngsters being exempt as they won't fetch much to make cheaper alternatives genuine alternatives.
