Maybe. But this looks like a 5-3-2. Which is different most of the season. 🤷

To get the best from Daka we need another striker dropping deep to create channels for Daka. Actually think Marti might be making the right call here to partner Daka and Ayew. Ayew playing like a false 9 could work with Daka.

OK positives:  no Wout Garfunkel, Jogging Donkey, or Super Luke  and Nelson gets a start. 

 

BUT. Skip, Ayew, Daka, and limited youth starring (but desperately needed)  no real attacking intent   and a midfield that doesn't create much or really offer protection to our "world class defence" 

 

He's reverting to old habits by swapping sh1t for sh1t when he had the opportunity to be brave and do something different.

He needs to stop trying to play football. He needs to go back to basics again and look to place more emphasis on transitional football. 
 

He needs to think about putting in grafters….. Skipp to some extent falls into that category, but he lacks grit, he works hard and covers the grass but that’s about it. I’ve said it before as undesirable as it sounds, sticking Hamza in midfield to be a destroyer, be aggressive and give us a bit of something nasty is probably what we need at the moment. 
 

Unfortunately we simply can’t play how Marti wants us to, regardless of how poor we are at the moment, there’s enough experience and ability to play in a different way….. 

 

The real example was on Tuesday. Boro just spent the last 10-15 minutes smashing balls into the channels and getting balls into the penalty area, and lo and behold, we crumbled and conceded. 
 

We try to carry on plodding along, slowly ambling around the pitch and failing to keep control of the ball, and failing to even counter when it’s on. 
 

That is a tactical thing, not so much a personnel thing.
