Football Operations Revamp - Hiring Technical Director, CEO, and Commercial Director - Rudkin moving 'upstairs'

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

We're in the championship and most probably will be for another year, without a penny to spend due to regs and they will be doing a role that's more limited to recruitment and not a wider encompassing DOF role. You're probably not going to have heard of the new bloke, They've got to go and find the next Ashworth/Monchi/Mitchell and give them a platform. Realistically.

EDIT: Wouldn't be surprised if it was someone that was merely a scout here, Rudkin knows and has moved on and will now be looking for a promotion - e.g Ben Wrigglesworth

Monchi's available.

He's just finished putting Villa on the brink hasn't he? Don't think many (if any) of his signings have helped there. it's only really Morgan Rogers and Pau Torres that have done well for them.

In fairness they've been largely held back by PSR

Fair point, just because the article made it sound like Top was gonna throw money at it so I thought he'd be wanting the best.

Unless you know if any recruitment suggestions were his first choice or whether he was told this what we can afford what's available. You can't judge people blindly if you don't know the context etc.

That's like absolving the head of pot holes at Leicester Council of any wrongdoing after a huge pot hole caused a pile up and the defense being it wasn't his assigned pot hole

They've spent about £350m since he joined them in 2023 lol

So the vile chanting worked then?

Where's all those saying those 10 or so fans had ruined everything and we'd never get a serious conversation about Rudkin moving on?

You think they decded to do this after Saturday? no... this would have been in motion for a while

Can’t see these clowns getting the right people in.
Look at the manager’s they’ve hired recently. Apart from Maresca they’ve been awful.
I’m sure our obsession with Southampton will continue and it’ll be someone worse than Rudkin coming in.

Surprised the club haven't tried to say its for his own safety.

Either way... im sure the new appointment will be just as useless as everyone else employed at / by this club

Firstly I think Top is going to be quite disappointed by those interested in the job.  Secondly, the person we get in should tell us how much say rudkin will still have.  If it looks like a yes man then still a lot. If we manage to get a strong personality person in then just maybe ……….

Is the Technical Director so we can blame on field performance on someone else / sing about him instead?

Seems that way to me. While we fall off a financial cliff, continually fail PSR and still hand out big fat contracts to big fat average players.

Yep, I don't think it's a coincidence that this news has been released the same as the interview is coming out. It'd suggest it's been in the works for at least a few weeks if not months.
