The only metric they have on us is current league position. Literally everything else we're streets ahead.

Why are we like this?

And that league position is likely going to last a long while. We're not an appealing move compared to Palace because of how comprehensively king power have bollocksed it up

You are incorrect, but acting like we are Barcelona does not make it so. Why are we like that?

Ah yes that's exactly what I did, saying we're bigger than Palace = me saying we're the biggest club on earth. You're right.

But it will take decades if not centuries for them to match our trophy haul, and that's assuming we never add any more to what we have.

We have the least proud fanbase in the country I am certain of it. We're the 5th most successful club this decade, we've won every major trophy more recently than Arsenal yet we act like Wigan fans.

And people get bollocked for quoting our success when we are struggling, but will then use it

Shades of grey. Our success is historic, theirs is less but it is contemporary.

You cannot on one hand bitch at the club for its pure awfulness and then on the other act like we are fantastic, well you can, but you know.....

History wise, yes, we're bigger than Palace. But history doesn't mean much compared to current trajectory when someones considering a new job. It's why Sheffield Wednesday, despite being orders of magnitude bigger on history, would never outcompete Bournemouth in recruitment nowadays.

I can be critical of the running of the club but proud of it's history, cheers.

Oh and we won the FA Cup and the shield (the same as Palace have ever won in 160 years or however long they claim to have been going nowadays), 4 years ago, it's hardly long ago.

Of course, you also keep saying history which kind of proves the whole point.

if you can be critical of the running of the club, surely you can understand why someone who isn't a fan (because we're not appointing fans as technical directors) would look at us and not consider us a particularly appealing project?

Palace won the cup 6 months ago, that's "history". GOTCHA.

They are in the Premier League. This about where a contemporary coach/staff member would prefer to go.

I'm not arguing that someone would currently leave Palace to come here, I am stating the fact that we are and likely will be for a good while yet a bigger club than Palace.

Like I said in another thread we'll have a King Power approved yes man appointed shortly. I'll leave it there.

Fair enough, in my eyes we always will be of course. On the second point, yes this is Top's chance to draw the fans toward him or push them further away.

Recent decisions are not a cause for optimism, but we have to hope he has seen the light.

Bad example considering they won the fa cup before falling to irrelevance

To be honest the only reason I suggested Mitchell is because I think it’s a no lose job.

Get paid handsomely, if you can’t fix the mess then everyone will just blame the fact Rudkin is still here anyway. If you do fix the mess you’re in the spotlight again for a big club job next time round.

Regardless of whether it was Eddie Howes fault or not (getting through DOFs at an impressive rate!), it’s not currently a great look for him that he flopped at a club with Newcastles assumed resources.

Palace have a solid academy in place and probably recruitment as well if you watch there doc you can safe to say its still in place now while ours has gone through a downgrade

Palace do incredibly well of hoovering up south London talent, whether they make it at QPR, Reading etc, if there's talent they'll end up at palace

Something we seldom did when we were the standout club in the midlands, didn't really flex our powers to hoover up from Villa, Forest, West Brom, Wolves etc. But that's typical of us.

Agree, really annoyed me we ended up taking Villa etc rejects rather than stamping our authority as being the club to be at.

TBF Wigan aren't far off Leicester :D

By any metrics Man U, Man C, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are the top 5 this century.

Safe to say Leicester 6th and Spurs 7th... can't think of anyone but Wigan and Portsmouth for joint 8th as FA Cup winners...!

There's just a massive self hating amongst this fanbase. Look for any chance to belittle Leicester. I sometimes think they wanted us to return to this level just so they're happy being little old Leicester.
