BlueBus Posted 5 July Posted 5 July I thought Luc de Fougerolles had a decent World Cup at CB for Canada, yet to make an appearance for Fulham and imagine he'd be after another loan, spent last season in the Belgian league so he may be aiming higher than League One. 1

I can see us bringing in at least one CB on loan, but this is where I can see Man City and Maresca helping us out. Not sure they’d loan us Alleyne or Mfuni, but they also have Kian Noble and Finley Burns, wouldn’t surprise me if one of those two joined.

They'll need to be better than Kevon Gray or Wilson-Brown or there's no point really. 3

You expect our CB position to be decimated(A good thing) to the point where the loan market might have to be used. Alleyne and Mfuni looked the part at Watford last season, so not sure they’d be attainable. Finley Burns has had a few loans already, Martin had him at Swansea but didn’t feature much. Kian Noble was one of the best players in PL2 last season, probably due a loan, I reckon he’s starting material in League 1. 1

Thing is with that though Ric, is will a new manager 'gamble' like that, when they could just go and get someone new in, quite easily (assuming at least three of our current CBs leave this summer)?

The lad should be getting game time with us this season 100% 4

Oh we definitely need reinforcements at the back with hopefully Vestergaard, Okoli and Faes going and quite likely Souttar and Nelson too. However, loan deals for 18-20 year olds I don't think are what we should be looking for when we have Wilson-Brown and Gray. Maybe we get 1 of that profile in but we need to rebuild this team as well as plug the gap. 3

His last 2 seasons he has barely played consistently. Get a minimum of 35 games into him this season and see where he’s at.
moore_94 Posted 5 July Posted 5 July (edited) Depends how willing Martin is to properly integrate some of the younger players but we probably genuinely need at least 10-15 new players... need to get a shift on and I do not trust them at all Going to be like every transfer window where we get to the end where we have some massive glaring gap somewhere in the squad Stolarczyk - probably stay but could leave Vieites - will be very surprised if he stays Begovic - 3rd choice / player coach at best if he does sign a new deal Coulibaly - will leave Aluko - will stay Joseph - will Martin involve him? (he should) Kristiansen - will leave Thomas - will stay Faes - will leave Okoli - will leave Souttar - will leave Nelson - probably going to leave Vestergaard - I actually think he will end up staying *Wilson-Brown - will Martin involve him? (he should) *Gray - will Martin involve him? (he should) Winks - will leave Braybrooke - will stay Choudhury - will probably stay Skipp - will probably stay Page - will hopefully stay Fatawu - will leave Mavididi - will probably leave Bobby Reid - will probably stay Alves - will stay Silko Thomas - will stay Jake Evans - will Martin involve him? (he should) Lorenz Hutchinson - will Martin involve him? (he should) Kirsten Otchere - will Martin involve him? (he should) Edited 5 July by moore_94 4

Yeah, maybe you are right. Of those you say will/may leave, I personally think the following will end up staying, for lots of different individual reasons: Vietes coulibaly Nelson Mavididi Edited 5 July by FoxinNotts

He's probably the most technically gifted player in league 1, perhaps would even be a competitor for that title in the championship if we were still at that level. Reminds me of Iliman Ndiaye. I haven't seen a single player mentioned on this thread with comparable control of the ball. As you said hopefully he gets some consistency with us and that technical ability translates into performances. Edited 5 July by honeybradger

Just have a feeling he could work well in a RM system when he plays 4 at the back and has 1 full back bombing on (on of his tactics, apparently). God Knows where he is though. Probably trying desperately to get a move tbf!! Nelson - think RM has already put an arm around him, told him he's going to be one of his merry men. New deal soon I'd expect Mavididi - I think he's too lazy to force a move 😂

Has featured pretty prominently in coverage so far and seems to have led our new kit campaign. Could see Martin really liking Nelson and building the defence around him. Would obviously need him to sign a new contract… maybe a new contract with a get out clause for a reasonable amount if we don’t get promoted straight away?
Dan Posted 5 July Posted 5 July Hearing NTT20 do a podcast about transfers in the EFL so far has made it hit home how far we're lagging behind again. With as much to do as nearly anybody but absolutely nothing, as usual. This club is literally not capable of doing a lot of things at a time. I'd imagine it's linked to the owner having to sign off everything and being available about 5% of the time.

Always loved scouting, so thought I would do a bit of a project, scouting every position barring right back for a Russel Martin system. I will post them by position group and rank them in order. I scouted leagues which I feel are realistic for us to buy from and only used players that are realistic in price, market demand and under the age of 26 for sell on value. The leagues I scouted are Swedish Allsvenskan, Belgium Pro League, Austiran Bundesliga, Czech First League, Scottish Premiership, Norway Eliteserien, League One and League Two. Centre / Attacking Midfielders: 1) Rocco Shein - Fredrikstad FK, valued around £2m. 2) Mathias Christensen - Aalesunds FK, valued around £750k. 3) Owen Bailey - Doncaster Rovers, valued around £1.5m. 4) Kamari Doyle - Brighton, Loan. 5) Patrick Kelly - Barnsley, valued around £750k. 6) Isaac Hutchinson - Bristol Rovers, valued around £300k. 7) David Blanka - Banik Ostrava, valued around £2m. 8) Killian Phillips - St Mirren, valued around £750k. 9) Ludwig Thorell - Mjalby, valued around £1.5m. 1
