Rowett's profile on Transfermarkt

Preferred formation is 4-2-3-1 (obviously) lol

To be fair he did 3-5-2 a lot at Millwall… we can hope..

More stark evidence, if any was ever needed, of just how far this club has fallen. Wish him all the best obviously but won't hold my breath either.

If you'd have told me, even 12 months ago, that we would be appointing Gary Rowett as manager and I'd be relatively happy with it, I would've laughed at you.

Sums the club that we have wasted 3 league games waiting on choosing Gary Rowett lol

He knows the club.

The stadium, ownership, players, training ground, backroom staff and most of the supporters may be different. But he knows the club.

I suppose he was here the last time we were getting shit...

Think he's a good fit for where the club and the squad are right now. We may have had other options we were exploring, but those were before we lost three in a row and that shocking Saints loss. This club and this squad are on  emergency room table. Rowett can triage the damage. He's not the long term answer, but without a technical director we were never going to be successful at appointing a long term option anyway. If he can help us survive this season I think we need to get Speakman in as technical director over the summer and rebuild from there with new owners.

Gary Rowett highly praised Leicester City defender Ben Nelson during their time together at Oxford United in the 2024/25 season, calling the centre-back "Premier League level" and forecasting a bright future for him. Despite a 4-month injury, Rowett considered Nelson a crucial, high-potential talent for the Championship side.

Says it all about where I see the club now that I don't hate this.

Good luck to him because my god will he need it.

He is underwhelming in terms of name.

However, he is a back to basics, pragmatic manager. And quite frankly, we haven’t had one for some time. He is also in a position where he has a few months to get results - I think that’s very Leicester and I think (on a limb here) he will be someone we like which is not something we’ve said about a lot of our other managers.

Yes, we’ve gone from thinking our next set of managers post Rodgers would be Amorim or Emery and we’ve fallen significantly.

Need a manager to give us some

hope. Hopefully this is the guy,

However, if he starts Ayew as the lone striker in his first ****ing game he can **** off tomorrow

I like this appointment. Should have been earlier and whether it's enough remains to be seen, but I think it gives us a much better chance.

Not even confirmed/gone through, yet..

We employed the former manager of QPR who didn't finish much higher than Oxford last season...just saying

Ended well, dinnit?

I wonder if Callum Davidson will also be coming back. Just lost his job as Assistant Manager at Ross County. Of course, he was with us when Rowett was here.

In previous clubs Rowett has made Davidson specialist Defensive Coach - I think we need one!

Weve gone from the bloke Forest sacked....   to the bloke QPR sacked....   to the bloke OXFORD sacked.

That’s the level we are at. Relegation fodder
