This is fair enough. He's a better manager than Cifuentes and definitely a better option than sticking with King, who will admit himself that he's in over his head.

The delay is clearly that we've tried to get better managers in and been knocked back, so I won't be critical on that front.

They should still be hounded out of the club on the basis that the 2 paragraphs above had to be said.

Good luck and hope he keeps us up.

But terrible choice in my opinion although it can’t get much worse at the moment he’s not shown anything in his management career to make me believe he will be successful.

Given a few more games Smith may well have kept us up.  As it was a great save and a missed pen were the difference.

Hopefully Rowett has enough time to at least give it a fair crack of the whip.

Clearly not a market we would have been shopping in for many many years. However, sometimes someone might not be the most inspiring name but what you need at the time.

If we have any chance of staying up, we need someone who can address the defence. There’s obviously going to be a limit anyone can do in such little time and no recruitment but Rowett has as much chance as anyone. He will also demand certain standards in terms of effort.

Given how many want to give Aiyawatt chance after chance, and want us to back the players who have failed to turn up over and over again, maybe we give the guy who has literally played no part in it a chance? Let’s be straight, if we go down, it is not on Rowett just as 2023 was not on Smith.

Rowett is noted for improving team defensive solidity and organizing sides to be difficult to beat. Gerrriminnn

We've not looked like keeping a clean sheet for about 3 years. Seriously big ask to make us look solid defensively

Just looked on Google AI wotsit - says he left a good legacy at Millwall over 4 years- saved them from  relegation and made them a solid top half side. That’ll do us for now

Turned down by everyone else. So we scrape the barrel for a man who would’ve taken it before Top even did his embarrassing interview.

Christ. Got to back him though.

See my post and link to the Football Insider article, above! Not turned down by Blackburn - they were prepared to offer a 2 year contract - and Michael O'Neil was second choice!

I can imagine he was initially knocked back, it was offered to someone else, they knocked us back, maybe we offered it to someone else who also knocked us back.  Then we go back to Rowett and try to explain we've had a change of heart.

I hope he's told them that his salary demands have now gone up by 5k per week.

The irony of of it all was that Rowett was pretty much the obvious choice from day 1 and should have been in 4 games ago.

This club is rancid.

I just hope we can get behind him and he can start getting a tune out of the players.

I think he meant everyone else turned us down but the club knew weeks ago that Rowett fancied it, so he should of been in the hot seat instead of King being chucked into the fire.

I don't envy him for his first 4 or 5 games to face up to lol

Stoke away

Boro away

Norwich home

Ipswich away

Bristol City home

I agree, but if he sets us up better, who knows. Let’s face it, none of them are like going to Anfield or Old Trafford are they.

Not making excuses but perhaps the delay was whilst sounding out other options and giving them time to turn us down. Better than diving straight in for Rowett which would've drawn criticism.

I'm not the DoF at Leicester City, we're bringing in a Technical Director in the summer, so his job will be to find the right manager.

Whats with the phenomenon of fans asking other fans for full-blown lists of managers they want.

It takes research and due dilligence. I might have a name or two, but its not my job.

Erm, I definitely saw you ask to take the role of technical director earlier today on one of the threads
