Not sure I'd trust him to bring through youth "Lineups: Every week, he astonished everyone at FC Köln with his lineups. Even internally, Kwasniok's experiments were increasingly viewed with skepticism. "What did he pull off today?" even staff members in the press room would ask on match days. His reasoning was often incomprehensible. If his decisions had at least been successful, he would have had the upper hand. As it was, however, questions often remained. Against Hoffenheim, there were four center-backs on the pitch; in Stuttgart, suddenly, not a single one. One increasingly got the feeling that there always had to be one more idea, until eventually he lost himself in his own tactical maze. His meticulousness often got in his own way." "And for a long time, he also handled Said El Mala poorly. Only very late did he realize that such an exceptional talent always belongs on the pitch. By that point, a lot of damage had already been done." "Very few knew where they stood with him until the very end. Complete trust was never fully established on either side." "One of his biggest shortcomings, aside from his sporting performance, was his communication." https://www.express.de/sport/fussball/1-fc-koeln/sechs-gruende-fuer-lukas-kwasnioks-scheitern-beim-1-fc-koeln-1249904 Did a good job there and even better at Paderborn. Would certainly get some rockets up arses here
JimJams Posted 10 May Posted 10 May Will we need rockets up arses though? Or am I being optimistic in thinking we get rid of the bad eggs and egos?
old koppite Posted 10 May Posted 10 May I wonder if the board will look at the draws we got against Boro away, Ipswich Hull and Millwall ( some of which we could/should have won), and as they were all teams pushing for promotion at the time, see GR as the man for the job.
Lambert09 Posted 10 May Posted 10 May I honestly don’t say this as a suggestion, just a question. But is Leon mcsweeney someone who might have what it takes? the under 21s have done well recently and it would be a perfect way to have youth integration

How very dare you have such a sensible idea, stop that immediately 😁 I see youth next season as critical to our survival. Finances are shot, so a wholesale mass transfer frenzy is highly unlikely, (plus I have zero confidence that the tw@ts in recruitment would get anything right) so a bridge between the 1st team and the talent pool of the U21's is quite an astute idea really. The concern I do have is League One is a horrendous, rough, dog eat dog League and the importance of at least putting up a fist gaining promotion, would the pressure be too great for M Sweeney?

Would be hilarious watching Lascelles, Souttar or Vesty as an overlapping right centre half though. And Luke Thomas as a playmaking wingback😂. You're right with the young players. DS did have a big turnover of players during the transfer windows so would likely need something similar here, however a lot of Eredivisie teams are arguable lower champ/league 1 level, and he managed to bring in dozens of players for £5m which I'd imagine we can stretch to. The concern being his team are defensively a bomb scare with very complex tactical transitions, we are a bomb scare doing the basics . With that said though, I said over and over again last season, if we'd approached every single game with the intention to simply outscore our opponents, I think we'd have stayed up. 1

Bring it on. Let's hope Schreuder is mental enough to want to take us on, moderate success would make him richer than his wildest dreams with this ownership, and he would be a cult hero if he got us back to the big time.

Donwebbio Posted 11 May Posted 11 May Tony Mowbray would be great for us. Not sure he would stand for Rudkin and the disfunction
Gazza M Posted 11 May Posted 11 May History would tell you we are going to waste a large proportion of the summer firstly telling Rowett to leave but trying to convince Callum Davidson to become a club coach. Then spend a few weeks trying to tempt Lee Carsley to the club with outright lies and deception. Then at the 11th hour turn our attentions to someone available like Paul Warne. The club coaches: King and Hughes (2 relegation in 2 seasons) will be keeping them in shape in the meantime. None of this will happen until Jon and Top have had a holiday first. 1 1

I can honestly see an appointment being made 2 weeks before the season starts.
