I'd be very surprised if they sustained a push for the Champions League over a number of years

I agree, but I think if they ultimately fall a point or so short, he would probably be tempted to try again rather than jump ship for a basket case like Leicester.
I think it could happen though, moving from a lower budget Eredivisie club to a "huge" league 1 club that has world class facilities and is prime for a rebuild is definitely possible. Nobody expected Bielsa would go to Leeds when he realistically could have gotten a bigger European job.

I'd love to be wrong. I just can't see it happening.

Oh yeah I'm not saying he'd come here, but I doubt they'll be up as high as they currently are consistently

Yeah, Im with you. I think we could have tempted him if we stayed up & had an ambitious budget, which is what managerial negotiations ultimately come down to. But League One? No chance I'm afraid.

Would anyone take Mark Hughes from Carlisle Utd?

The guy that got sacked from league 2 Bradford because he couldn’t get them promoted? And now has done the same with Carlisle (whom he also relegated).

Sparky? Not a chance in hell I would touch him with a barge pole!

They are doing what they normally do throwing a certain name out there and seeing what the response is from the fans.
They did the same thing when Ruud was going and Mr Ego Russell Martin was the apparent name in the frame.

Eh?

They don't give a flying **** what the fans think about anything. They definitely don't hire managers based on it.

Don't understand why we're interested in Ferguson, he's only had 3 promotions in his long career, most recent being 20-21.

Peterborough weren't good this season.

Gary Rowett set for Leicester City meeting as next manager hunt truly begins
After coming to the end of his short-term contract with the club, Rowett is now due to speak to the hierarchy over his future, and to review his 14 games in charge

Jordan Blackwell

Gary Rowett is due to speak to the Leicester City hierarchy this week with the club now searching for next season’s manager.

Rowett had the 14th and final match of his contract on Saturday as City ended their campaign with a 1-0 win over Blackburn.

He did not hide his desire for the job in League One and said he could be “exactly what the club need” as they prepare for life in the third tier.

He expects to be back into the club this week to discuss his future, but also to review his time in charge and, if he’s not going to take the reins, to help the club ahead of their next step.

“I’ll catch up with the guys next week,” he said after Saturday’s game. “It was important to get the season out of the way. I’m sure I’ll sit down with the club.”

Prior to the game, he said: “When you’ve been here for the games we’ve had, you’d want to help the club in any way they feel is important to them. What the club need off me moving forward, I’ll have those conversations.

“I’ll be available for those discussions, I’ll be available to help in any way I can, whether that’s what I think is required for next season, what I’ve learned in the 14 games, my opinion of them.

“I’ve shared those with people. It’s not as if I’m sat in my office not speaking to anyone. I’m speaking to people all of the time.”

Rowett has been more and more open over what he feels the club need next season, talking of “cultural change” on the pitch, and with a need for players with more physicality and drive, and for a reinvigoration of the club’s underdog spirit.

He said: “A lot of those players won’t be here next season I’m sure. There might be a few who are still here. It’s going to be a great opportunity for the club to rebuild, to reassess what they think is important, to get those cultural bits right.

“That’s going to be very important to get back to that hunger and desire that won the club the Premier League in the first place. How do you find that underdog spirit back into the team?”

I am hoping this is the case and it’s more Ferguson & his representatives getting his name out there to generate interest from other clubs who are also searching for a manager.

The story was reported on a betting-affiliated website in an attempt to generate betting activity on our next manager. We're not going to employ a manager who was sacked a few months ago when his club was bottom of the division we will be aiming to win next season. That's why nobody remotely credible has touched the story with a barge pole.

He's a Consultant at Charlotte FC, where Dean Smith is Manager and Christian Fuchs was Assistant Manager. For me, the 3 of them, make the ready-made (and perfect) package, for us!

I’m not sure he’s in that role any more

His daughter was on insta at Huddersfield the other week saying she was off to her dad at work

OK so REALISTIC, suitable and current options from what I can see are:

Dean Smith

OGS

RM

Steven Gerrard

MIGHT be available should circs change:

Challinor

Mark Robins

Long shots:

Scott Parker

Hassenhuttl

Dick Schreuder

Corberan

Dyche

Left field:

Ben Wilkinson

Danny Walker

Not suitable?:

Wellens

Fuchs

I would add who are readily available

Gerhard Struber

Will Still

Ryan Mason

Valerian Ismael

Not that keen on any of the above.

Currently at league 1 clubs I’d like us to at least look at Michael Duff and Tom Cleverly.

Dean Smith as manager with Christian Fuchs, Kingy and Okazaki as coaches. (Then bring in some hard working Japanese free agents - Asano and Kitagawa, for example)

Not sure what category he would fall under, but Carsley would be my preferred option.

Life's probably nicer over there than it is in Leicester but I'd happily see all of them back at the club.

Probably the long shot option.
