I might be wrong but Gary Rowetts contract does not finish until the end of June so surely they won’t bring anyone else in until that expires.

They are not going to sack him with six weeks to go and no point putting him on garden leave and paying two managers wages

No but they will just say he will leave at the end of his contract.

We appointed Enzo before July despite Dean smith having a job until the end of the season.

So won't be Dick Schreuder - must admit a bit of me was hoping he wouldn't get CL if it was a genuine link but we should back the underdog, what an achievement to get NEC to the Champions League.

Saw Albert Riera has been let go from Eintracht Frankfurt, he would be incredible for the press conferences alone!

Would unironically take Riera

He failed at Frankfurt partially because of the big egos there, whereas with Celje he was a bigger name than any of the players so they were all more willing to buy into his approach.

He wants his players to run through walls for the team, not just for him but for each other as well. If you're slacking off then he'll discard you.

We can't afford any big time charlies not pulling their weight in League 1 so his man management style might actually be exactly what we need

And of course he played for Liverpool (and Man City and Watford) so has a tenuous-enough connection to English football for Top and Rudkin to possibly have him on their shortlist

Not being funny but why offer him anything beyond the last game of the season? Surely they realised that relegation was a likely outcome and that wasting weeks of wages on a manager that wouldn't be here was a stupid idea. But when have they ever thought that things might go wrong.

Contract document templates probably have June 30th on as a standard and Rudkin probably can't be trusted with edit permissions on documents.

From memory, I think the clubs official announcement of his appointment said it was until the end of the season 🤷‍♂️

Don’t understand why an interim or short term deal would run until end of June surely it would conclude end of May at very latest if not earlier given our final league game was early May.

Play offs mate

Does the season officially end on a certain date?

I’ve always assumed the “season” in this context ends June 30 to align with the financial years etc. hence the mad dash to flog players before the end of the month, new signings from July 1 onwards etc.

I think we had this debate last season from a financial perspective, we thought they took an age with Ruud so that they could put his pay off in a different league/season... then sacked him two or three days before the official league handover date. (which on reflection may have been them realising last minute it would be worse going under the EFL's financials)

Go back to Dean Smith, that was inexplicably mid June lol I think most of us had assumed he'd be carrying on at that point.

I imagine some sort of official goodbye will be done when his royal kneehighness is back for the anniversary game and polo season which starts straight after.

Part of me still thinks we've got him involved in that game somehow due to a lack of anyone else being available!

Local Rivals Northampton Town are more organized than us

Hogg was a free agent. We may be targeting candidates who are currently in a job, some of whom may still have games left to manage this season. If we take ages to appoint and it ends up being somebody who was available all along, it will certainly suggest poor organisation. If we end up with a strong candidate we've had to pluck from another club, it might seem like good sense.

Top thought he would make the play offs and possible the World Cup knockouts

I feel like I should make a wild bet with you that it won’t be a feeling of good sense when someone is finally appointed. However, betting on a race isn’t fun when the horse has two left legs and half a cock up the arse.

You may well be right, so I probably wouldn't take that bet anyway :D

I have a feeling that it's going to be somebody a bit leftfield—ie, a name not currently featured highly in the odds or media talk (not that there is much media talk). Probably an up-and-coming young manager from either the lower leagues or abroad who has done some good early work but is still relatively unproven. On the other hand, now I've said that, it will probably be Tony Mowbray...

Or it could be an out-of-contract candidate that fit's the 'available' criteria but won't currently commit until other options have been explored and dismissed. Agents will be touting their clients far and wide.

Yes, it could be this.

Well we've seen this exact scenario several times, so I know which one i'm plumping for lol

Even if he is being paid to the end of June nothing to manage currently so just pay him off

I think Tony Mowbray would actually be a sensible appointment.

it will be someone left field but not for good reason. They’ll be unemployed and not really up and coming. Quite uninspiring

Jon is in Maldives until June

If he's been scuba diving with the Italians he might not be coming back.
