To be honest, in the Market we are now in it might be a good opportunity for a manager to build something, and maybe someone like Gerrard could work at this level and build some momentum, rebuilding for both reputations. It’s a risky one. If they go for some league 1 clogger like Darren Moore god help us. Probably if he fancied a rebuild job, Martin would be horrendous at this level or trying to re establish in the championship. We are in a different place now.

Gerrard suffers from amazing player but sh1t manager syndrome.

Russell Martin would just be horrendous full stop..

He's a B-Tech wanna be clone of Brendan the fvcking odious little cretin Rodgers, and I would take a sabbatical from the club if he was ever appointed our manager.  He is a bullsh1t spouting fraud, who I detest greatly.

A left field candidate would be Mark Milligan, who’s been absolutely brilliant here down under.

Has turned around a terrible Newcastle side, without really any new signings,!and turned them into regular season champions, along with the domestic cup. His teams are disciplined, work hard, physical and front footed.

I’m a Melbourne City STH, the turnaround in that team is staggering. My old man and I were both incredibly impressed by how his team performed. He’s 100% a young Ange, he played under him at Melbourne and for the Socceroos.

I know there’s a stigma related to football from Asia, and yes the quality is obviously lower. But the coaching remains the same, what can you get out of a group of lesser players.

Melbourne City reached the latter stages of the AFC Champions League, coming up against teams with much bigger budgets. Newcastle have been far, far better than us this year.

It may be too soon for him to make the move, but it’s one to watch for the future.

Honestly though, both these 2 have more credibility in League 1. The club in its current form is going to go for another complete no mark like Cifuentes, never achieved anything anywhere ever. We are shopping in a different manager basket. A year ago I would agree on Martin but he’s done a job in this division before. We aren’t going to be getting a top manager, one because we can’t afford it and 2 because that’s not the way King Powers football operations team works, it will be another bloke who watched the premier league once, plays tippy tappy and who maybe went near Barcelona at some point in the case of Cifuentes.

I think Will Still is one who I think will put himself forward and the club will seriously consider.

Look at Southampton's transformation since they ditched him. No thanks.

Richie Wellens - knows the league...

Rowett knew the Championship?

Orient could easily go down this year. Like Fuchs not sure he would even be mentioned if he didn't have a link to the club.

I would love it to be someone on the up, who hasn't really failed already. But I know that is probably unlikely.

I don’t see us getting anyone currently at another club. We’ve got fvck all to spend even on small compensation.

Will Still

Ruben Selles

Ryan Mason

Steven Gerrard

Darren Moore

Gerhard Struber

I know it’s a dreadful list but that’s where we are. The only saving grace is I don’t think Mr Ego Russell Martin would ever consider managing in league 1.

Indeed. This is arguably the most important managerial appointment in our history. We need to do everything we can to get the best candidate—sentiment should play no part whatsoever in it.

We need a McKenna type appointment. Ipswich version of what Pearson did really.

Obviously not Mckenna, but Sunderland got it wrong 2 or 3 times. If you get the appointment right that is a chance of building, though if the financial situation is as bad as I fear it might not matter.

You mean since the last one and the one before that…..

Precisely. I guess that's what happens when you are in the process of sinking to the lowest point in your history—every appointment along the way becomes your most important ever...

Mousinho would be the best option, the job he has done at Portsmouth favourites to go down in the past 2 seasons in the championship and has kept them up, he also got them promoted from League One, he's a young manager that is going on a upward trajectory.

Why would anyone in a job come here?

Darren Moore is the Marti Cifuentes of League 1

He's probably going to be considered for a top end championship job in the summer and has earned that opportunity considering he's managed to get a woeful squad to stay in the division.

He did take Sheffield Wednesday up via the play offs in league 1 and then left because they reportedly didn’t treble his wages.
So expect him to be in charge next season on 90k a week on a 5 year contract.

Get Paul Mc Kenna in as well as whoever the manager is.

My fave times as a fan have generally been under younger British managers that have had some lower league experience.  The likes of Little, O'Neill and Pearson.  Obviously Ranieri is an exception.

I'd rather go down this route than going for some wanky named coach coaching U23's at a Prem club.

Therefore Stuart Maynard or David Challinor for me
