Dean Smith is returning i think, how would fans feel about that considering what happened last time?

I wouldn’t be surprised by this, not my choice but I guess it could be worse. But what do I know that was what I though about Rowett

RVN was on a long term contract and we had to wait until 1 July to sack him for PSR reasons. Rowett’s contract ends after we play Blackburn.

Which obviously meant that they couldnt start looking for candidates. :facepalm:It took far too long to appoint Marti.

Takes them far too long to do anything, I'd accept it to some extent if they take their time and get it right. but they don't.

I think they decided early on they wanted Rohl but pressed the panic button when it looked like it would be difficult to extract him cheaply from Sheffield Wednesday and went for Mart instead. Just imagine how our season might have gone if we'd have just ponied Rohl's £2-3m release clause...

Pearson got sacked by Southampton though, we didn’t just take him from there.

I've touted Nathan Jones at Charlton. He's also got plenty of experience and had proven success with Luton

If we got Dean Smith in this situation it might just save us. Id go as far as to say, if we had got him instead of throwing it all at Enzo and tippy tappy we would not be in this mess now, Like Villa we would probably have gone back up and stayed up.

Where we are he could be the right man to rebuild the football culture at this club, a culture bound by winning football matches instead of 'style'

If the "very LCFC" appointment of Johnson did happen, Lommel's season might not finish until 23rd May in terms of all the potential play offs to the Pro League. So it might be quite some time before we hear anything.

That being said if they got promoted I imagine he'd stay there!

Rick Passmoor. Bought out of his LCFC women's team contract and given a 4 year deal by the men's team.

His surname suggests he'd fit into Top's preferred style of play.

I don’t want him, but statistically he could have saved us if we had brought him in a few games earlier. Was very vocal against the way he was setting us up.

But with that said, I also believe if we had given him the job after relegation, we may not have gone up 23/24, but I believe we would likely be in a better financial position now and still in the championship.

He would not have been signing winks on 90k a week? We would have avoided Ayew and BDCR, we wouldn’t have given Vestergaard a deal etc.

Dean Smith at the time was not the “right man for the job”, but in hindsight he was better than the course we’ve taken since 22/23.

I think given where we are, he would be more than good enough to give us at the very least a sensible rebuild.

As much as bad decisions have harmed the club, I'd argue that periods of indecision, especially around managers have cost us more.

I'm genuinely at the point of not particularly caring who the manager is right now, but what I would like to see is some quicker decision making.

If Rowett is going, announce it this weekend.  If he's staying, announce it this weekend.  If he does leave, get on with appointing someone asap.  Please don't drag it on as we have done previously, let's get someone in before 1st June so they can have a decent summer of watching the tapes back, understanding what players we have, what we need and then get cracking so that we hit the ground running on the first day of pre-season training.

My fear is that after the final whistle this weekend, Top and Rudkin will switch their phones off and put their out of office on until the training ground reopens for pre-season and we'll be starting from the pit lane, instead of being at the front of the grid waiting for lights out.

Agree - but this bit is fantasy land because there's going to be a huge turnover of players due to our crazy wages. Most players will want out and we'll need to sell a bunch too.

RVN was actually sacked late June in the end. But yes, it was definitely PSR related. I think they were leaving it until as late as possible in the financial year to decide which accounting period could absorb the cost.

Could we go down to league 2?

Yes absolutely.

With potential financial problems - you're looking at minus 12-18 points for administration and delayed payments. So 68 points to be 'safe'?

Even without the financial problems - you're looking at a huge turnover of players - we will likely have to sell anyone worth anything, leaving us with a threadbare team of prematurely promoted youth products and players that don't want to be here but couldn't find a way out.

Yes I know, but we failed PSR anyway.

We delayed sacking him to comply, but failed.

This delay is probably the biggest factor in us getting relegated IMO. Lack of fitness can be attributed to this, no communication and uncertainty with players caused problems with squad.

There was a complete lack of leadership in the summer which results in relegation.

We didn't fail PSR for 24/25.

Having watched Newport before and after his appointment to keep track of Braybrooke, they were absolute dogshit before his appointment.  They're not exactly great now, but he has improved them.  Any calls for him, or frankly any of our former players bar Robins and probably Wellens is pretty ridiculous though.  Unless I'm forgetting someone who has proven themselves.

Mancini.. but this is also a ridiculous shout lol

Normally it's a 3 year rolling period, so the accounts submitted by end of December 2025, would include seasons 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25.

So unless our court cases have affected these dates then my understanding is it would have included that season.
