We have this conversation so often, shows how badly the club is ran.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. If he wants it I think they’ll club will see it as a big coup. Nothing would surprise me.

If it is him and soon, at least they’ll have been more decisive this time. No the right decision but hey.

I dont know after his disaster at Rangers, very few are going to take a punt on him.

It could be an opportunity for him to rebuild his reputation a bit. He would have done better than Cifuentes to be honest, and in League 1 with the right squad he probably gets us promoted.

If Top was going to reset the club the next manager should be announced not wait until mid preseason and transfers on last day as usual

On social media over the weekend someone asked a fan outside the ground how they think we will do next season and his response was ''well... we should walk the league?''

Do these people never learn or just thick?

If you look at Lincoln and the majority of the league one teams, its mainly physical & counter attacking football. The very thing we have become to struggle against. Martin and more of the same style as the last few seasons would be another disaster waiting to happen.

Cardiff with BBM and Birmingham with Rodgers side kick did it the tippy tappy way.

Id rather us bin it off but if Rudkin remains we will be chasing that.

Again, I don't like the bloke, but his stats (particularly in League one) are sound.

Play off promotion with Barnsley, Play off loss with Sunderland. No dramas with Bristol City and a cup run or two.

He's also gone away after Hibs and tried to build up an education, City Group, FC Coppenhagen etc.

Sorry, but can't have us appointing a manager who has been sacked by Fleetwood for not being good enough

Its going to be Martin and it is in fact going to get worse.

Will be interesting to see what happens when we are bottom half in November and the club cant afford to sack him because they’ve given him a stupid contract.

Agreed,  but that did appear to be the final “I need to go away for a couple of years and learn” moment.

Who knows, I’m just laying the groundwork for a predictable appointment

I don't doubt it. I was specifically stating Martin and that style would be a disaster, because Martin is so wedded to possession and associated stats that he refuses to adapt even if it obviously isn't working during a match or over time. It's never his fault, its the players not performing, always resorting to thowing players under the bus to protect himself. That's the last thing we need as a manager going in to next season.

What like Cardiff this season ?

I din't know much about Cardiff. I see they did well with high possession stats. Let's hope we can do the same 🤞

I think people will be in for a shock when they see what team we have left by the end of the summer window. It will be very much a league one side I think.

His surname suggests he'd fit into Top's preferred style of play.

his team can't score, can't defend, have zero structure or sense on the ball... so it would still be better than the current set-up

We should walk the league, whether we do is completely up to the clowns at the top

He didn't get Barnsley promoted, he also went away after Hibs and got sacked by Fleetwood pretty quickly as well.

Brian Barry Murphy

Chris Davies

Lee Carsley

I do believe these will be the big targets as opposed too your Russel Martins , Skubala’s etc etc

Seen some mention McCarron might bring in Lee Johnson from Lommel etc but I wouldn’t be in the slightest surprised if there’s something in McCarron’s contract blocking him from bringing anyone from the CFG clubs, managerial wise for a specified time period, it’s not an uncommon request.

Russell martin is inevitable it feels. Maybe his experience getting humiliated in the prem and doing dog at rangers (trying to get a bunch of s**t kickers to do tika taka was never going to work) may have made him re-evaluate how to do things.

He is very good at working with young technical players and I wouldn't write him off. He fits a profile of what we are looking for as a manager with a point to prove. I am not convinced by challinor & skubala because they're working within a framework where everyone is alligned and focused in the same direction.

I don't think we should be losing our heads if it is martin. He's not the worst option out there.

Wasn't there a rumour on here that he was pretty much going to get the job last summer and they went back on it because of fan reaction?

They would have appointed him before now if they could but they now know it would only highlight their incompetence further by doing so.

The fact that there was such heightened security around the ground last week means they can't afford any more obvious slip ups.

That doesn't mean they will make the right appointment. I'd be shocked if they did but RussMart is a no go area

People associating the style with Top - and understandably so as he is the prat who sat in an interview and told a candidate “I want to play like Man City”. Need to remember Rudkin’s role.

Go back to pre King Power - when Rudkin was only polluting the youth team with weak minded disruptive players (see Mattock as an example but to be fair, Stearmen, Sheehan etc also had application issues). Beaglehole and Rudkin were continually criticised on here with their slow build up style - completely alien to the way the first team played or could play.

The man has been impacting this club for too long.

FYI - for the anoraks. Any style, implemented well, is fine. However, to implement this style that they seem hell bent on, they need to work - we need technical players which tend to cost more. It’s failed because we don’t have those players anymore. Even our best at the moment, James is not technically brilliant.
