Honestly with our fans there’s such hatred towards UFS that I think some people clap because they think it will rile up UFS. Particularly those in SK1/2.

At the end of the Millwall game how about a hearty rendition of "If you're stupid and you know it clap your hands" sung over the inevitable clapping :giggle:

To the point that I don't go around insulting people because they have a different opinion.

Well… you do.

We must have one of the most passive fan bases in the country. No other fans would allow their club to be burnt to the ground unanswered. They believe they are "supporting" the club but are actually doing the opposite. You cannot applaud a group of players that have shown utter disdain to our club and fans. Win, lose or draw, id applaud the players if they had given their all. The stats dont lie. The highest paid players that covered the least ground, and couldn't even do the basics of getting themselves fit enough. Its beyond incompetence and is borderline sabotage from everyone at the club. That is not to be applauded and in doing so, it gives a free pass to everyone at the club to carry on with their destruction!

This is not about "through the good times and the bad" or "always backing the lads" or being a "proper fan" its about trying to protect the actual future of the club and its beyond comprehension that so many cant see that.

I don't want to associate myself with any of these people. I'm sure they are lovely people in their day to day lives but do not get on your high horse about being "real fans" when you clearly dont give 2 hoots about the club's long term sustainability!

Here’s a thought…

During this season, and indeed the last, there has often been criticism of fans who boo and/or abuse players.

To which a frequent response is, ‘I pay my hard earned money to attend the games so I have a right to boo and hurl abuse if I wish”. I consider this to be a valid response.

However, conversely, surely if an individual decides to applaud, during, or after a game, even if it is yet another f****** defeat, then, using the same criteria as above, ‘They  pay my hard earned money to attend the games ....’ so they also have a right to express their feelings, as they see fit, in this case by applauding.

Either way, neither group of individuals have to justify their actions to the other or should be subjected to abuse or bullying from the other ‘camp’.

For the record, at the end of many recent games, I do not boo, nor do I applaud, as it is my right to do neither.

In the words, widely misattributed to the French philosopher Voltaire… "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."  :)

I'm not going to defend to the death the right of performative, contrarian seals to act like performative, contrarian seals while the football club I love dies - partially because their actions enable the hastening of its death.

Applauding is being complicit.

People generally applaud things because they are happy or appreciative of what they have seen.

If the club does go bust, which is not beyond the realms of possibility, then the people who have openly applauded such incompetence and under performance are complicit.

People who have attempted to protest and have shown their feelings towards the board and players can actually say they tried to bring about change at the club.

People read way too much into people applauding. Suspect a lot of it is habitual.

I bet there were some clappers then, there just wasn't all the fuss. There's sections of the stadium that always will. Acting like this is a new thing is what I don't get.

What's new is that we've never had a group of players that have put so little effort in before. Applauding a relegation or a defeat or a poor season would not be horrendous if the players had given their all, as they always have previously. Applauding a basic lack of effort and pride is just odd.

Look mate I can see the bigger picture as I keep saying I wouldn’t have clapped them off, wouldn’t have dreamt of it.

I can put myself in others people shoes though which is what we need to start doing as a fan base in general.

I think I understand the point you are making here and the previous post also replying to Iwebema, that on the 1/2 performance the spinless clowns put in yesterday that people could just about warrant clapping.

If I've got that right, personally I think these people would have clapped if we had been on the end of a 6 nil spanking and zero attempts on goal.

To them it's an expected reaction, its what they think LCFC Fans should be doing to gain their 'badge of honour' as a True Fan, and be allowed to utter 'sacred' words of "backing the lads"

I think personally a lot are scared not to be seen clapping.

I think you may have the answer re clapping because they appreciate something. The clappers can only believe the players have “tried their best” and so deserve a clap at the end.

Personally I never clap anything which I don’t think is good or worthy. I haven’t been to a game this season, but think I would have booed, especially for the last few months.

You can't use Voltaire's words in this situation and if you're genuinely doing it you need to go back at school/uni and study. Accepting idiotic mass behaviour, accepting collective lunacy has nothing to do with Voltaire. Dangerous opinions like yours have resulted in the decline of this world especially in politics and how citizens are treated.

It’s not new, it’s a completely different scenario.

That Leicester city and this current Leicester city are two different clubs.

The fact is, we really should not be in this position, it’s all well and good saying “we are where we are”, but this shouldn’t be happening. The financial gain this club has had over the last decade, is only bettered by the traditional big six, the fact we’re now back in league one is unfathomable…. It shouldn’t be happening…. As it’s been said a few times, it’s essentially like winning the jackpot on the euro millions, and a few years later being bust…

What separates the two, is the last one was expected and acceptable given the era of the club, this really isn’t, we’re in this position through sheer incompetence, and absolutely shoddy financial mismanagement.

The biggest difference is this time we’re going down with ridiculous financial baggage, we are still operating financially as a top half premier league side, in a league where the TV revenue mine isn’t worth it.

So, this is why a lot of us are so angry, we should be in this situation, it’s completely self inflicted, so, it’s something I certainly don’t accept, and many others don’t.

The nastiness for which I have been guilty of, so will admit that, is down to frustration, frustration that not every fan is protesting outside the king power.

We brought Leicester to a stand still when we won the premier league, we should be doing the same now to save the club.

You are missing the point.

I'm saying people have the right to do was they wish, albeit booing or applause, without abuse or bullying.

We do not live in a dictatorship in which people are forced, by peer pressure or anything else, to comply with how other want them to act.

Oh no, I totally got your point. It was just the most anodyne thing I've ever read on this forum.

Well done for being above it all. We all think it's tremendously clever of you.

I can see that point.

At the same time I can only analyse what’s in front of me. If we had lost 6-0 and been pathetic that’s a different conversation.

My main takeaway from last night from owner to manager to player was where has this been all season. Which pisses me off more than wanting to clap them.

But I could see why some people would, digging into pensioners for example as some people have on here is out of order. They’re a different generation who may not be anywhere near as clued up people who use the internet regularly.
