What do you want him to say?

Anything else rather than the robotic answers most give, but its not just what he says its the way they say it its like every bit of their personality has been removed, maybe its the media training, but it just so dull. But hey...I couldn't really care less as long he starts winning matches and playing attractive football...we can hope.

What concerns me is he thinks energy has to come from the 'fans' no, just ****ing no. If you want energy to come from the fans then give us something exciting to watch, it we are watching the team pass it back to the keeper from a corner, or Janick standing still, rightly there aint going to be any 'energy'

Perhaps it can be a two way thing?

If fans turn up for the first game with a negative attitude and don't get behind the team, moan when a pass goes astray, boo the players they don't like then we're fcuked.
Hopefully the players will ensure the fans want to get behind the team.

Fans will give him a chance but not long, if we're not in the top six by mid September fans will pile this pressure on him. Somehow feel Rudkin whose be chasing him for years will give him more time compared to the other managers we hired.

I tend to judge how much I've enjoyed the game not just by the score but how many times i get up from my seat.

Passing back is his style of play very boring to watch. He needs to look at himself first and not blame the supporters

I agree to a point. I will go initially with an open mind as I did with Marti, I will expect to see some kind of cohesive idea/plan/tactics, which there wasn't last year at any point. I personally don't get on the players backs during the game. Obviously people can react how they see fit.

If they are passing it across the backline and a pass goes astray due to an opposition press then its dumb tactics, inviting pressure and high risk in dangerous areas, its unnecessary, I honestly don't get it.

That said if its garbage, slow and ponderous, im certainly not going to be jumping up and down and clapping, it just doesnt fit.

I honestly think the fans have been very patient with the absolute shit served up by the club over the past 2 seasons. Its very hard to back nothing, no effort from players, bad decisions from the club, poor management. I hope Martin has something to prove, although I worry he wont care as long as he is true to his 'philosophy' much like Rudkin chases the same 'philosophy'

Number of players I despise over the last couple of seasons but I just don't get booing them (fair play to you for not getting on their backs).

They're probably too well played to decide to leave because a few fand are booing them and it just makes for a divisive atmosphere.

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt to start with like all our new managers, no point getting on his back straight away

Give him untill half time in the first home game

I think you only need to look at the Scottish fans singing 'their' national anthem the other night to see that the team were stoked up & fed off that at the beginning of the game more than anything Clarke would have said in the dressing room.
It feeds both ways as neither side can go a full 90mins providing the energy alone.

Likely outcome:

We’re top 3 by Xmas, We tell Russell in January there is no money to strengthen the squad. Mid table champ side just outside the playoffs come sniffing and we can’t say no because we need the compensation.

or

Absolute car crash from the off and gone by October.

Does he need to be told that getting the fans onside from the get go is vital ... by being over cautious, defensive, slow build up type of football will be received like a bucket of cold sick  .... needs to be fast expansive football to have any chance of winning the fans over

Whilst I agree - all this monotone bullsh*t that comes at new manager press conferences....what are you expecting him to say otherwise?

I cannot believe i'm here to be honest. You lot slapped me about 12 goals to 3 over the only 3 games i've managed against you and yet here we are. Same twisted logic as when you beat Southampton 9 nil and then recruited anything with a vague link to Southampton, it's perverted.

Managers generally have a default setting that is very hard to ever really overcome. I don't think he views what he does as arrogance or idealism but more how he genuinely believes the best way to win is. Personally I think he's well wide of the mark. It's the same with someone like Sean Dyche, you'd see plenty saying how he "may have changed" but they very, very rarely do.

My biggest gripe with this appointment is he's fundamentally not what this fanbase actually wants. I think he could have a good six months here for example but he will never be more than 2/3 games from everyone turning on him, and that is why this appointment is silly.

I'm so fed up of listening to new managers talk absolute shite about getting fans on board etc. I just can't take any of what they say seriously. None of them seem to have any integrity just say what we want to hear.

A pair of hands comes from offscreen and cycles through a deck of Panini stickers of our squad.

One by one they are shown to him. We don't see which players, only his reaction and comments:

"w4nker.. shit... lazy pr1ck.. he's a tosser... couldn't finish his fvkcing dinner.. another w4nker.."

That would certainly win a few of us over I think.

For the first time ever, I have not read and heard anything from a new manager. I refuse to. I just can't bring myself to dwell on the verbal diarrhea. How have we let this guy in through the front door. Fuming.
