Could be going out on loan and has the arse?

If we are bringing in a couple of strikers he's game time could be limited, unless he plays RW.

Surprised he's not featured at all in pre-season

As much as I rate Evans, he's not ready. I watched him for Cobblers a few times and he was lost in most games. A season long loan to a League 2 side will do him good

Whilst he’s still raw I don’t think he looked lost at all personally

He looked their best player every time he played. Not sure what you watched

He’s had game time but has not really done much, similar to last preseason.

Had a knock or two apparently.

No rush with him though. He'll get game time.

EFL Trophy is great for game time

there a rules about how many first team regulars you have to play IIRC you can't just make mass changes

Stupid rule. EFL is effectively saying that promoting young talent is only acceptable if they’re with an EPL club, and they are depriving their own member clubs’ young players access to first-team football

well they are trying to force clubs to take it seriously if league one and two clubs play the kids then there's no point having tournament, attendances are already low for the ELF trophy if there's no first team players the grounds would be empty

now we've brought in McFarlane in I want to see Mirsad Ali go on loan, whether its to a national league side or league two, get him out playing mens football

Any word on whether we'll be entering a team into the National League Cup this season?

It would be interesting to see how the next generation down from those stepping up in pre-season will fare against men's teams.

Brackley Town sign ‘very quick’ and ‘exciting’ forward following Leicester City release

Kian Pennant has signed for Brackley Town following his release from League One outfit Leicester City.

The versatile winger, who can play on either side or as a centre-forward, has been snapped up as a free agent after he had been on trial elsewhere.

Pennant, capped once by England Under-19, enjoyed two spells in the National League last season, at Gateshead and Woking.

The 22-year-old played 10 times apiece for the two clubs, scoring two goals across a total of 928 minutes in the English fifth tier.

Fast, reliable, and rated better than the big providers.

Now dropping down a division, Pennant is keen to follow up his breakthrough senior season with increased game time with the ambitious Brackley.

There’s certainly promise there, as Pennant scored 26 goals and recorded seven assists in 120 appearances for Leicester’s under-21 and under-18 teams.

Speaking after completing his move to Brackley, Pennant said: “I’d describe myself as an energetic and direct wide player who’s comfortable on either flank.

“I want to create chances, contribute goals and assists, and help the team climb the table.

“After speaking with the gaffer and hearing his ideas, I felt this was a great fit for me.

“It’s an exciting fresh start and, with the quality and ambition in this squad, I believe we can challenge for the league title.”

Whing, who shares Pennant’s optimism for the season ahead, added: “Kian is another young exciting prospect who has agreed to join us.

“Having a great grounding at Leicester City and representing England as well, Kian is now adjusting to men’s football.

“Having previously played in the National League and gaining experience, I’m sure we’ll be able to get the best out of another exciting prospect.

“Kian is very quick and gives us another dynamic going forward in the front three positions. Welcome to the club, Kian!”

Whing’s 12th signing of the summer, Pennant will officially become a Brackley player when the transfer is approved by both the National League and the Football Association.

Pennant could make his competitive debut for the Saints in the highly anticipated 2026/27 season opener, away at Telford United on Saturday, August 8.

who else do we see being loaned out? I think Hutchinson and Carr are almost certain, anyone else?

Hopefully Tommy Neale if we aren't going to involve him much. I hope Hutchinson stays as I think he'd force his way in to the squad eventually. Evans is the one I think will go out again.

I actually really like the look of Neale, been surprised to see him missing from a lot of people’s potential teams.

I think Evans should also go out on loan, I don’t think we’re finished with signings yet Rick

A lot depends on outgoings over the next few weeks. Assuming both the Burns and Bristic deals go through we’ll have a squad of around 24/25 without anymore incomings. That includes Aluko, Joseph, Braybrooke, Page and Alves. But no more academy lads stepping up this season. We’ve only got a bench of 7 subs this season too.

For Neale, Carr, Evans and Gray to get the minutes they need for their development they’ll have to go on loan

It’s a bit disappointing, Neale especially I was really impressed with, but he’ll come back an even better player after 12 months of men’s football

If our squad is still bloated, and we don’t get the above 4 good loan moves by the end of the window we have failed massively
