markko Posted 30 August Posted 30 August I quite like Harry. However if he is on big wages and in addition his injury record I would move him on. We cannot afford to be a charity. 1

Samilktray Posted 30 August Posted 30 August Still haven’t got over the defending for that Notts County goal. Diabolical 1

DezFox Posted 31 August Posted 31 August Looks like ship has sailed. He will stay unfortunately. That’s sad. Gets paid a whack, doesn’t want to be here, is shit. This is why administration looms.

If he is here and the captain he will play well, just get over yourself . 4

Once the window is closed there is some work to do to motivate him for sure, but agreed he is better than any of the alternatives we could attract. 1

This is why administration looms. He’s clearly not shit. He’s the best defender we have and—as others have said—better than anyone we’re likely to attract. A couple of poor games at the start of the season after he joined pre-season late doesn’t change that. He was good on Saturday and if he stays we’ll have one of the best CBs in the division. Personally I’m not sad about that. 2

Sly Posted 31 August Posted 31 August Might be different when his brother arrives. Have we ever had brothers play in the first team for us? 1

Personally I’m not sad about that. Ok I can re phrase, for what we are paying him, he has been shit so far. I don’t think we can afford to keep him. He will be the highest paid defender in the entire league by some distance, unless we pay another of our defenders more.

I'll re phrase it for you again so far he's been injury prone and multiple managers who value ball playing center backs over traditional defensive qualities have chosen other genuinely shit player over him. 3
Claudio Fannieri Posted 31 August Posted 31 August The concern for me this is the mirror of last season, a number of players who had checked out or wanted away. High earners that had lost the motivation to play here, however we failed to move them on and they had to be reintegrated into the squad and look what happened. The atmosphere turned very toxic and we ended up relegated. We are now in league one and allegedly the culture and atmosphere has improved significantly since RM came in, the risk is that is undone once the players who are in the departure lounge, have to be reintegrated. massive 2 days ahead, Souttar may well have played well on Saturday but if he doesn’t get the move he is expecting like others we could be left with a lot of unhappy, disinterested and disillusioned players bleeding the club dry on unsustainable wages. 2

Completly agree with this. There needs to be be a way that souttar, okoli, mavs, skipp, hamza, all move on and some are replaced. Very very little chance of that happening.

If Russell Martin is to be believed, Souttar hasn’t once told the club he wants to leave. That’s why he’s continued to play him (and make him captain) while leaving out players who have made it clear they want to go. Plus, by all accounts Souttar is a hardworking and honest pro—not the sort to down tools. If he’s here after the deadline he’ll be a regular starter. Edited 31 August by ClaphamFox 3

I hope you are right, but my PTSD from previous seasons particularly last season, suggests once the window shuts these players tend to lose any motivation and the performance levels drop off massively, whilst the morale and atmosphere amongst the squad tanks.
LCFCCKEANO Posted 31 August Posted 31 August If we somehow end the window with a chance of having Souttar, Nelson and Kangasniemi in the championship next season(if we go up) we have done very well in that department 1
