Is that accurate? I can't really believe we offered him a below-average Premier League wage when we were flashing money left and right on no-marks.

Surely he was on 20-30k a week at Stoke? Why would he leave that for a Premier League team if there was a very certain chance that he would have ended up on the same wage 6 months later?

His stock was high, we were chucking money away and we signed him for a very good price.

Doesn't make sense that we would offer him (and that he would accept) a low wage.

We know some of these are open to discussion (like the winks 90k) but most sites have him as signing on 40 a week.

With a relegation clause of 50%

This is more my point, he was on a championship wage anyway when we signed him playing for a poor championship team. Include the relegation clause in that I would be surprised if he’s on more than £25k a week.

Dont get me wrong it’s still a lot for this level but it’s not shattering amounts.

Joe Aribo makes me chuckle everytime. What was the point!

Even if we signed him on £75k a week and then put him on the low end of the relegation wage clauses of 35% it would be down to around £30k a week now

I wouldn’t be surprised if we paid him less than that and a higher end of the relegation clause

Still a lot for league 1.

The fee we got for McAteer was the deal of the Millennium then.

Souttar has featured, and starred, in two World Cups for a decent team that has progressed from it's group on both occasions. £12 mil would be par for the course, surely.

Fair shout. Different circumstances in that we are L1 now though. The fact that only 3 transfers out of L1 have been over £10 million and are us this window says a lot! And I like Souttar, but BEK, Fatawu and Monga are all more appealing players for the big transfer fees, attacking, younger etc.

The McAteer deal was incredible for us. Did he has a long contract maybe?

unless they pay what we want he isnt going anywhere as I said

and reports are we want 10mil, basically what they paid for McGuiness last summer

I think it depends really i think if we stil had rudders leading charge we’d give in but as of recent i can agree with you

Saw someone say he’s going sheff in june now he’s said it again 🫤

Apparently we want atleast 8m

But he still hasn't gone :sweating:. At the time I would have put it down to the World Cup being on, but he finished his role there relatively early, and it hasn't stopped others at the World Cup getting moves.

Until Sheffield United match our valuation I can't see him going. We've sold a number now that we might be able to hang on to him for a season.

I'm surprised there are not more suitors for Souttar. Injury record may be a concern but he had a good world cup. Far too good for L1.

£8-10m seems fair tbh.  Maybe there's a deal to be done with SU involving Ryan One?

Think if the prices online are right he’s the most likely to stay in the position, Nelson is better value and the others can go for nothing and in Okolis case probably a loan with an option
