That doesn’t even cover his book value does it?

Terrible deal if true

I think his book value is about £5m based on my calc that we probably paid £12.5m as guaranteed and the remainder in add ons, which will not have been achieved, so we should make about £500k plus getting his wages off the book. Also he signed a 5.5 year deal so it could be that we wrote off his first year amortisation in the June after he signed, which could mean his book value is lower than my calculation.

Hopefully given the high add ons being reported some of that is easily attainable and will be further revenue secured this season.

Can see this one running until the end of August when transfer window shuts. I can imagine Souttar will be professional and still put in performances if he starts. Nelson and Okoli will prob be our Centre Back partnership

Unfortunately, the view of most was that he looked very disinterested in our last friendly. Hopefully you're right though.

That’s a shame tbh I thought he was one that would actually put in a decent performance considering how much we’ve fixed his injuries whilst he’s been here. Here’s hoping though but as they say we don’t want players who don’t want to be here

Big initial fee and we’ve got 6 appearances out of him in the last few years with a loan and injuries. He’d have been a big asset had he stayed but another wage off the books and we can hopefully replace him with someone who wants to be here.

I get he’s had a decent World Cup but his injury record has been atrocious. There’s a big risk he gets injured again and we get no money for him. Also don’t think he’s appropriate for the style of football this club wants to play

Covers he book value, we make profit on the add ons.

He will be on decent cash so another chuck of the wage bill.

Worse thing we can do is keep another player here who not interested, cut out loses and move on.

Why all the negativity here?

Souttar is vastly underrated.

He is tall, heads all the balls out the box when they come in (unlike Vesty), he is surprisingly mobile given his height, and he has a great tackle. Definitely a Premier League defender. We are lucky if he stays.

Our defence was so much better after he came back from injury. Played really well in the World Cup too.

In League One, he is going to not any goal through him.

In the last 2 seasons he has single digit appearances for us. His injury record is appalling. Any one signing him is taking a massive risk.

I don’t know where this ‘definitely a Premier League’ defender stuff comes from. He’s a deep block merchant, and in his only PL season he fell out of favour pretty quickly.

He only played in 2 games this season after we were relegated. Not enough to actually put any credibility behind.

He will go down own as one of those players supporters liked because he never actually played. A lot of fans wrongly assumed he was on small wages too.

Very good player, but there's no way to tell if he'll be fine with the rigours of championship/league 1 football.

A double Achilles tear is rough,  yes he looked fine at the world cup, but continued sat - Tues fixtures and things may flare back up

It's a very decent fee in consideration of his injury record. He's got at least another breakdown in him. Equally if the news of a transfer request is in, he's probably accepting lower wages and scrubbed his chances of a loyalty bonus as per Finners says. Fair play if the case.

Didn’t Sheff Utd get in trouble for not paying transfer fees owed?

Wonder if they owe LCFC for Hamza loan still.

Wind 'em up and promote one of the relegated team back up!

Sheff U have told Mark McGuinness he can leave, he's a CB, probably mean green light for Souttar.

He got told he wasn't in Wilders plans a few weeks ago

Wilder has spoken openly about wanting to get Souttar in and MM out

My guess is we will have a new CB in by Monday, Souttar won't be risked tomorrow (or even in the line up) and he'll be at Sheff Utd by the end of the weekend.
