Where’s the big ‘if’ coming from with regards to staying injury free?

 

I think people’s minds are set for when he was at Liverpool and suffered the back-back  knee issues but this was in 2015 & on his return from that in 2016.

 

In the past 5yrs for instance he has missed only 11 games due to injury 🤷‍♂️

While people like K789 exist, the club will continue to make these "name" signings that don't help the squad at all. People on here would praise the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in L1 because its a big name but he'd flop because he's ancient. 

 

Hopefully doesnt stunt the progress of our youth forwards coming through but won't hold my breath because he's probably got a clause where he has to play like Ayew! Deary me!

I mean the most experienced striker we've got at the club currently is Jake Evans, who's 17 and played like 10 games on loan at Northampton for his entire senior career. A 1 year deal for a senior pro doesn't feel that bad in context, but I still wouldn't want him to be our main man.

Hopefully signed as the "experienced" striker, which we have done successfully previously. Dickov last time we were in League 1. Phillips and GTF in Championship. If he's signed as the "new" Ayew then we are ****ed.

Agreed - although I do wonder if we will pay for one (main) striker, albeit not to the level of a Ballard - maybe around 2 million for someone like Wareham

When we signed Kevin Phillips we already had Vardy, Nugent and Chris Wood. You just know this will be the only striker we sign and we'll be otherwise reliant on Evans and Hutchinson.

I guess this type of signing is fine like Kevin Philips was if he is merely complementing your main strikers pushing them and providing good leadership. They usually come in at the end of the window when the squad is set and you’ve got actual strikers. 
 

I’ve a bad feeling about this. Why if this isn’t an agency signing have we not signed up the multitude of free agents across the globe. i feel like we’re struggling to move on the players that must be sold so the last week of the window for whatever we can getwith a yet again ill prepared squad seems like it’ll be repeated. For the sake of the club I do hope it gets better than this if the clown thinks this is how you promote from a tough league.
