Unironically the best striker we’ve had for years

Jamie Vardy was a Leicester player in 2025.

Could be ok, could be another disaster.

We do need experience, but not an injury prone and overpaid striker who doesn't score anymore.

Certainly has the quality for L1, but very injury-prone is my general unresearched perception of him. So quite likely going to get kicked by big L1 defenders and then be out for more time than he plays. Ok if we also sign someone a bit more robust up front.

In the prem and championship a 37 year old David McGoldrick scored 15 in league 1 last season.

The key thing being McGoldrick was capable of playing over 140 games over the last four seasons. Ings by comparison 70ish over the same period.

Thats the kicker for me. All well and good having him as the senior figure but he’s never fit. Always got some niggly injury and never quite recovers from it.

12 years too late.

How many games do they realistically think he'll start in Div 1.

Surely less than 20 - He's going to be ****ing expensive for 20 games and less than 10 goals.

Difficult to judge without seeing who else we bring in.

We get him and someone younger with more potential then I dont think a 1 year deal for him in league one in rotation with more exciting players is a bad thing.

We go into the season with him as the clear main striker, its just another one to add to the list of incompetent decisions.

It's like the Kevin Phillips comparison elsewhere. Phillips was a supplementary 4th choice signing that made sense. If we were reliant on him as 1st choice we wouldn't have gone up. Knowing what we're like these days I'd say it's likely we end up overly reliant on him.

In the last five years he's managed 32 nineties in total. Average of just over 6 nineties a season. Simply cannot be plan A.

One year deal senior pro. Pearson did this all the time.

Will judge when I see what else is coming in

That's the key- if he's one of a couple of senior pros coming in alongside some youngsters/promising players from the lower leagues with something to prove, this is a decent signing.

If not, then it's time to fold the club.

I don't mind the Ings signing to be honest. It's only for one year so not much risk.

If he can stay fit, no doubts he's got the quality to score plenty in League One. Always been a good finisher.

He's getting on at 33/34 whatever age he is now but he's scored 22 goals in the prem before (Golden boot runner up) you've got to take it after a season of watching Daka/Ayew.

Also, we will be paying him like he's a plan A.

Absolutely no thought has gone into it.

People saying the worst bit of business this week was Farage calling a bye election against a bin whilst framing it as the people vs the establishment.

Good deal, WTF where people expecting in league 1, signing a world cup star?

I think people were hoping we might look to make smarter more thought out signings as opposed to signing more old injury prone dossers looking for a pay day.

For sure. Isn't difficult to understand, is it?

32 nineties isn't he's managed 90 minutes 32 times either. That's accumulatively how many minutes played.

There is a world that there's sense in this but it is a red flag.

Bet we're paying him wedge

We just need to make sure everyone pays £19.99 for the pre season game exclusive package, that technically gets you 2 free games.

Our owner and DOF never learn do they. What’s the point of McCarron with yet another agent led signing. Defund the scouting team, they’re seemingly pointless at Leicester.

Why is this the reaction to having doubts about a player that there is every reason to be doubtful about lol

Nothing to do with expecting too much.

Decent signing doesn't play the full 90 often but thats ok cause we can then bring on one of the kids and he can also do a bit of teaching/coaching with the young lads

Sheffield Wednesday are supposedly signing Louie Barry, an up and coming young, hungry, proven at this level goalscorer with significant upside and the potential to improve further.

We have signed Danny Ings, missed most of the last few years with injury, with a poor goalscoring record albeit in higher leagues, no sell on potential and likely to be on treble if not more than the wages Barry will be on, whilst the club is in a dire financial situation exacerbated by keeping overpaid, lazy players on high wages.

I know who I'd rather have, and it is not Ings.
