But this list did remind me that if David McGoldrick can still do it in L1 level at 37/38 (15 League Goals), then surely Danny Ings can chip in with a few goals at this lower level

He's done it consistently at the level for 4 years though

I mock it, and I don’t in anyway expect us to function in the same way we did then, but when we went down to League 1 last time our 3 strikers were Fryatt, Howard and Paul Dickov. If he plays the Dickov role and we somehow find someone else to score enough goals to get us up, then fair enough.

Indifferent about this signing, especially if we’re expecting 40+ games out of him

 

2 things to put into the room 

 

1) Everyone’s talking about 6 goals in his last 75 games- all of these games were at a higher level than we’re at now - It’d also be interesting to see how many of those 75 games he had 30+ minutes in. I’d guess very few. 
 

2) He’s played in the premier league for 225+ games, near on a decade and a also has a handful of caps for England, for 17 year olds Jake Evans and Lorenz Hutchinson, aspiring to have careers like that & having daily access to someone with that pedigree will be gold dust for them!
