fox_favourite Posted 31 August Posted 31 August If it's a loan, then it's not a bad deal. Like others have said he can score goals, and different types as well. He must be able to score in League 1 not against this one on a loan.
winteriscoming Posted 31 August Posted 31 August Guaranteed to be a 3 year deal when it should be a loan.
DLH Posted 31 August Posted 31 August Don’t hate it, don’t love it but if it lessens the burden on Bristric and means less playing time for BDCR upfront, then it’s probably an ok short term solution. 3
ClaphamFox Posted 31 August Posted 31 August If it’s a loan I won’t moan, but if it’s a buy I’ll cry. 2
em9999 Posted 31 August Posted 31 August Anything is better than having to witness BCR play as a striker again 4

He's a 28 year old striker that's managed double figures twice in his entire life and both of those were amounts in the teens playing 46 game league seasons. He didn't even manage double figures in Denmark. He's also spent almost his entire time in England playing for teams who play football absolutely nothing like we do. Taking a punt on someone that's scored goals at a lower level? I'm all for it. Investing in someone that's been consistently underwhelming for a decade? I mean it's a tougher sell isn't it. Hes better than Bobby ****ing Reid.

We are now more restricted with who we can target - we can't just go looking for another Bristric-esque European unknown punt signing We probably haven't got the kind of money to spend on a player who wouldn't require an ESC place and would be all good for a usual work permit If you want someone who is a bit more proven at this level then your options are Pepple (who has interest from Championship) or Wareham (who strangely has barely any interest so obviously something going on there) Decent scorers at lower levels? Pretty much all of them are similar to Riis's age or actually older - and in my opinion you don't want to have two young very unproven strikers at your club when you are desperate for promotion 9 1
Stadt Posted 31 August Posted 31 August We can sign this guy or literally nobody else, got it. Good job we don’t have a Chief Football Officer, Director of football, Head of Recruitment, Chief Scout, scouts and analysts. I’m sure he’d be ‘alright’ but that the problem. “Oh but it’s late in the window” - don’t sign Cullen then? “We’re in League One, who do you want Haaland?” There are lots of other Championship options, L1, L2, Scotland, loanees and so on. If Riis is £1m then fine, could be worse. But it won’t be, we’ve seen this before. 3

tinpot_fox Posted 31 August Posted 31 August FFS I have no idea about this striker. We need someone who can fit in to the system RM actually adopts and gets into the areas/spaces required. If this guy fits that criteria then great, if not it’ll be another player amongst the few we’ve signed recently, who don’t get on the pitch but add to the wage bill. If we are literally just scrambling to sign any player now we’ve freed Hamza’s wages then it’s poor business. If we’ve looked for a player who has the right numbers for our system then great! clean slate FC judge after 5 league games (c)

I’d very much prefer Keillor-Dunn, but Emil Riis has been mostly solid at Championship level, 16, 12 & 9 goals in 3 of his 6 seasons in the Championship, 5 & 6 in two other seasons, but he missed like 20 games in those two campaigns. Realistically who’s better? If Stockport aren’t going to sell you Wootton, then it’s either someone like Wareham on a permanent or someone who isn’t getting game time in the Championship or SPFL. Besides Riis and Keillor-Dunn, you’re probably left looking at more of a gamble on someone like Kolli from QPR. You've missed off the season where he scored 2 in 38 🤣😂🤣 2

I follow Exeter as a second team because my wife’s family is from there and have seen him a couple of times live. First time I said we’ve got to buy him as the Vardy replacement we’ve been looking for. Hes aggressive, presses well, both footed to a certain level and can clearly finish. Not surprised we didn’t look at him but why is no one else?

But otherwise he's largely the same as Bobby Reid. Or Liam Cullen. Or Jordan Ayew, or, hell, Oliver Skipp or Conor Coady. When was the last time we signed a player who was unremarkable before he got here, maybe it was a level above and we convinced ourselves it would be better because they were stepping down to our level, and they went on to impress? Players that are this consistently average to poor in their output don't just magically become prolific because they've dropped a level. You're nearly always better backing a kid on the way up than hoping and praying one on his way back down is going to defy a lifetime of doing nothing to suddenly come good at your level. If this was some Kevin Phillipsesque signing, someone with a career full of goal scoring and a lifetime of good habits to pass on to our new young prospect from Bosnia I'd be all for it. But it's not, is it. 4

adam Posted 31 August Posted 31 August What's the point in having a scouting team when we're buying rubbish like this. Another non scoring striker, exactly what we need.
Donwebbio Posted 31 August Posted 31 August These are last minute moves out of fear and desperation. We have signed the only 2 that have been the result of scouting: Bristo & Kanga. Everything else is Martin led, agent led or panic led.
