Stearman - 6 Kisnorbo - 6 Johansson - 7 - Maybury - 4 *Newton - 8* - Immense in the second half, went on some great runs Jarratt - 4 Weso - 7 Mattock - 7 - Started shaky, especially on the wing, but got beter as the game went on. Danny C - 8 - Brilliant,took the fight to Brum and looked match fit Horse - 7 - very effective, still think worth should have got 3 up and left Fryatt on. Dropped balls, was arguably at least partly at fult with his decision making on the goals but improved later becoming more decisive and setting up one or two decent attacks with quick throw-outs). Stearman 6 (Made one vital early clearance but a generally had a lacklustre start. Partly at fault for the second goal with many others. Improved later, almost scored with a header and was forever involved in attacks during the second half when the crowd were in full voice). Kisnorbo 4 (Lousy passing, uncertain defending, offered no organisation or inspiration as skipper. Was awol for both goals). Nils 5 (Occasional bright moment but his lack of pace showed and must share some blame for the goals with Kisnorbo) Maybury 0 (That's not a sarcastic zero. I cannot remember a single good thing he did. He couldn't even head the ball accurately when totally unchallenged. Just didn't seem with it or interested. A complete liability and glaringly out of position. I doubt even Barton could make a case for him buty we'll see). Newton 8 (Welcome goal and a second half performance to go with it. Occasionally showed pace I didn't know he had and looked like he cared). Wesolowski 7.5 (Iffy start. Took a pounding at times. But he stuck to his task, refused to surrender and came through the boss and when he did the ball mostly stayed on the ground where it should be. Barton's view that the guy is washed up because of injury looked totally unfounded - but I think he'll be pleased. This was the real Weso and what a welcome sight. Desperately needs some proper help.). Jarrett 5 (I see so little in this guy. He never looks comfortable and in control to me and has so little positive effect). Mattock 7 (Pace, attitude, early crosses. a real gem. Never entertained any thoughts of surrender. 100% positive and showed all the character in an unfamiliar position that was missing friom the much more experienced Maybury. Crowd seemed to like him too.) Hume 7 (Not everything came off but this was the usual 90 minutes effort we've come to expect). Fryatt 5 (It gives me no pleasure to say the guy was disappointing. Had the odd flourish but nothing of significance and faded fast.) subs: Hughes 6.5 (Looked fired up andmore keen to get in the box than usual). Horsfield 6 (He's ugly, cumbersome and slow but he did win free-kicks and he did make his presence felt in his shortish time on the field). Cadamarteri 6 (Lively and might have equalised had Mattock not thought he'd lost control of the ball and grabbed at a shot which Caders was clearly expecting to have himself. We'll never know but I wouldn't have been surprised had he scored). Worthington 7 (I'd like to have given him 8 or 9 for the improvements he's clearly made to various aspects of our game but he should quickly get Beaglehole alongside him to advise him about players. Mesmerising. Jarrett - 6 Weso - 7 Mattock - 6 Hume - 5 - Selfish and lacked finesse. Drop him. Theres not much in it between the two but Logan had the misfortune of having no outstanding saves to make. Stearman 4 - Finally losing my patience with him. Wake up man!! Maybury 5 - A busy donkey. Johannsen 5 - Got done for Brum's opener. Arguably the most talented defender we have but his pace aint saving anyone. Kisnorbo 6 - Not his finest but he mucked in. Mattock 5 - One memorable run and overall was reasonable. Jarrett 5 - His consistant, poor self. Wesolowski 7 - Got stuck in and doesnt panic in possession like most of our players. Newton 8 - Shone in the second half.Where has he been hiding? Fryatt 6 - Worked hard, always seems lacking that extra something. Hume 6 - Toiled away as usual. Didnt happen for him tonight. Cadamarteri 8 - Explosive return. Must have been told to go on and make something happen and onanother day........ Horsfield 5 - Too awkward and cumbersome for my liking, made a slight difference though. Hughes 6 - Fresh legs, gave Brum something to worry about. Stearman - 7 - Contributed well, lost a few silly balls but fairly good performance Kisnorbo - 5 - A few good touched but lots of errors. Johansson - 5 - Again, some good touches, probably the best in the air for us (not hard!) Maybury - 4 - Shocking. Newton - 8.53 - A good performance and well taken goal. Hurrah! Jarratt - 6 - Not the best performance I have seen from him but not the worst either. Weso - 6 - Could have done better with a shot in the first half. Mattock - 7.5 - Very good performance. Big ****a aint he? Hume - 6 - some nice moves, but got caught too often. Tried bloody hard though! Fryatt - 6 - Some magical turns in the box, but poor finishing. One really good attempt I think... Looks a lot better Hughes - 7 - Good performance tonight. Fought well Cadamarteri - 7 - Should have started, hope he does next game. I'd make him Captain too. Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 April 2007 Share Posted 17 April 2007 Logan - 5 (Some good handling from crosses, but sometimes stayed rooted to his line) Stearman - 6 (Wasn't great but wasn't bad either, made some good tackles) Kisnorbo - 5 (Don't recall seeing that much of him (not sure if that is good or bad)) Johansson - 6 (Good clearing with his head, an able performance) Maybury - 2 (I booed when he got taken off, he was just so shite, showed no inventiveness or creativity when on the ball, there was a clear change in mentality when he was taken off) Newton - 8 (Didn't do much in the first half but was so creative in the second, the first time he has shone since coming on loan) Jarrett - 1 (Even worse than Maybury, slow on the ball, most passes didn't come off - I was relieved to see Hughes come on . If he starts the next game then Wortho has a screw loose) Weso - 8 (He was all over the midfield and showed such commitment, making some crucial tackles, looked more of an inspiration than the stand-in skipper) Mattock - 7 (I think that tonight he justified the manager's faith in him, for a young lad, he was sensational) Fryatt - 6 (Caused some problem for the opposition defence in the first half but just didn't get any form of quality service (to feet) from midfield, particularly Jarrett) Hume - 7 (Fought for every ball, showed determination throughout, again hampered by lack of service) PS - That linesman need to put down for his first half performance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
