But the overseas players currently are primarily the geriatrics looking for a pay day like Boult, Southee and Warner.

It reminds me of when Keown and Wise came to City.

There's not just oldies there's Steve Smith, Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, Ravindra, Klaasen, Behrendorff, Green, Meredith to name a few.

For those moaning about Richard Rae this pair are struggling. Don,t expect them to know much about the county but you should know which batsmen is which when one is left and one is right handed

Green was good again, looks like we've a serious player on our hands if he stays injury free and on his current trajectory.

We made it close but think our total was that bit short. Fair play to the two Glos batters who saw it through.

Hopefully a wake up call to the top of the order. I didn’t see much of it but it looks from the scorecard that’s where it was lost today.

Maybe I'm a bit naive and maybe things will change but I saw Josh Hull put down a simple catch for the Welsh team and, it just didn't seem right, him playing there. I doubt the players give a shit. It's for them just  a big money exhibition match. LIke soccer aid or  a pre season friendly in Singapore.

Why wouldn’t you at least look as if you care if you’re being paid silly money to be there!!

The lad will be playing for England within 3 years I reckon.

Anyone know what pace he's bowling at?

Had some 85+ v Surrey I’m sure.

Only half kept up with the game yesterday thought we did well to post 280 after a poor start but ultimately I don’t think it was ever enough.

Onto Wednesday.

It's concerning. Cox is excellent

Especially when we are potentially signing two wicketkeeper batsmen in Tattersall and Eskinazi.

Didn't realise Eskinazi was a wicket keeper aswell. Cox must be off then. Why else would we want so many?

Unless Handscomb isn’t coming back. Eskinazi will be signed as an opener/top order batter which is what we desperately need. We have two at the club and I don’t think either will hold their own in Div.1.

Eskinazi last few seasons:

County Champ D2:

2025: 4 games avg 37 with 2 50s

2024: 5 games avg 30 with 1 50

2023 (D1): 10 games avg 18 with 1 50

T20/Hundred:

2025: 14 games avg 35 with 4 50s

2024: 15 games avg 19 with 0 50s

2023: 26 games avg 31 with 5 50s

Based on the numbers should bolster the white ball top order but won't be offering much in red ball cricket.

Of course best known with Leicester City and its mentioned elsewhere but Bradley Varnham who's  sadly passed away also worked the PA at Grace Road for several years. Hope the club held a minutes silence either at Kibworth or at Grace Road on Sunday

Does Eskinazi keep that much, may well be wrong but I thought he was always second/third choice.

I can't recall him keeping, John Simpson was at Middlesex for years and always kept wicket. We'd be recruiting him as a batsman and he's turned himself into a good white ball cricketer.
