Notts play Surrey last game too, but bear in mind everyone behind us, bar Surrey have two games left, with us just having one. 
 

A win Sunday pretty much sees us with the home semi final, unless Notts have two massive wins?

It's mathematically possible if we get absolutely hammered by Kent (I think)

Somerset can get 20 points and have the next best run rate. They play Lancashire & Northants. Should they win both, that means Lancashire can only get 20 but then wouldn’t be able to catch us on run rate, even if we lose. 
 

Notts play Gloucs and Surrey and if they win both will be on 24 but should we win we would likely have a better run rate.
 

Should Surrey win, them and Notts can only get 20 and you would assume they both wouldn’t be able to catch us on run rate should we finish on 20. 
 

Lancashire still able to get to 24 but if they do that, that rules Somerset out of the equation who need to win both. 

 

Kent have an outside chance of making the quarters but they need to win both and win big. 
 

It’s hard to find a permutation that doesn’t see us with a quarter final spot at least.

Of course! But 7 games in, net run rate swings are much smaller. It would have to be a genuinely horrific loss for it to swing that much. I feel like only Somerset have a realistically chance of overtaking our run rate.

It’s all a bit confusing! I’m still trying to get my ahead around the permutations properly to understand how we don’t go through. Good thing is, win Sunday and we are through and bar something special happening elsewhere a home semi final.

In an ideal world, we probably want Somerset to beat Lancs & lose to Northants, along with Surrey beating Notts last game. I think should that happen, we probably get the home semi final regardless.

While mathematically possible, unless there’s a complete catastrophe, I can’t see a pathway where we don’t either.

A real tight finish, to a very enjoyable game of cricket, which at one stage, Leicestershire didn't look like win, after the start they made

Really good win and showed a lot of fight. However being a party pooper we really should be winning these games comfortably with the strength of our squad and against severely weakened opponents. 
 

A home SF will be massive for the club and another day out potentially for the final.

I could've made it down by 5pm but didn't want to pay full price for a ticket for half a game lol. Wish I had now. Sounded a great t20 like atmosphere and proper tense. Fingers crossed for a home semi. Just one criticism though, why do our top 3 always shit the bed at Grace Road? 🤦‍♂️

To be fair it was a great opening spell from OHD.

Crazy format. Mental to think that a score less than Sunrisers Leeds got in a hundred balls, or loads of IPL teams get in 20 overs was so hard to chase in 50 overs. Low scoring games can be exciting and this one was. Hannon Dalby bowled incredibly and if it wasn't for Nick Kelly we would have lost, he's been great since he came back.

That’s why I used to love the 40 over competition, towards the end of its life teams went at it hard and it was hugely entertaining. 50 overs is a long game and teams are cautious and try to bat the whole 50, not doing so cost Warwick dearly yesterday. 
We certainly miss Sol and the impetus he gives us at the top of the order.

Like the fact teams have to think about batting out their overs. Seen a few players in this One Day Cup say what a testing format it is because it's the longest day you can have with the fewest breaks.

Only three hydration breaks in nine hours compared to the three in two at the King Power today.

Canterbury a lovely ground buy not sure about this one  few going, didnt realise how big Kent is its miles away from Canterbury. South London this ground.

Think they have Muyeye back from the 100 but Billings Crawley out. Also think Milne their best bowler was called. Could be wrong.

On the other hand, we’re going to be the only non-international ground county to qualify for the knockouts, the likes of Surrey and Notts have far greater depth than clubs with small squads like ours. Pretty much every other ‘small’ county has struggled.

The ball has nipped around a lot at the start of innings. Plus we have our stupid no.3 situation. Other teams bar Lancashire have all struggled early on versus us too.

There's a lot that could be done around ticketing with apps and paying for a time slot or fraction of a game, which would encourage people to go for a couple of hours. Most people don't have a whole day free either for 50 over or 4 day games. The current membership and overall pricing structure is holding the game back.
