Get him in to sort out the men from the boys and give the underachievers a kick up the back side

Hughes will be shitting himself at the thought of this appointment

Warnock wouldn't be my first choice of manager. Not a manager I like, not that my opinion has any sway in the grand scheme of things.

Have to say i don't really like the bloke's whinging attitude, but if he can get some of our overpaid tossers to get their fingers out...... i may change my mind

I hate the guy , if his team are completely outplayed or thrashed , he comes up with a naff excuse all the while like the referee hates us . NO ! :protest:

Didn't Warnock state before he quit that he was a 'Premiership manager' and that he wanted to manage in the Prem only?? We are not Prem (yet) so this is all just hearsay and conjecture......

He said he wanted 2 more seasons in the prem, maybe he thinks he'll get there quicker with us.

Don't worry only about 5 times and 3 times in this thread alone. :P

lol sorry!

The more the hours tick by the more chance we have of getting him. Although he swears on his kids lives that he hasnt lined anything up yet, I think the fact that he is now saying he wants to be back in the premier soon is a sign that he will accept an ambitious championship club also. He seems to be full ofbeans and buzzing and wants a new challenge and thats what he`ll get here no doubt.

I think he is now favourite and I may put 10p on him arriving here if I can find a bookie that is offering odds!

He knew he'd gone as far as he could with Sheffield United, it's hard for a manager to continue at a club that's been relegated. Especially when you've been there for so long.

:yesyes:

I suspect he fancied going out on a relative high. Being relegated is a high, relative to expecting to go straight back up and failing. Just ask Micky "don't talk to me about the play-offs" Adams what that must feel like.

Warnock had a good run, seven and a half years managing one club.

This will be wrapped up within a week.

Whipped out the ol' crystal balls eh? :P;):D

On what basis do you think he doesn't take himself seriously? A wind-up merchant wouldn't keep going after relegation like he has done blaming anyone and everyone for relegation except himself. He had a far easier job then Paul Jewell on the last day of the season and failed to pull it off but then mouthed off about Liverpool, Man Utd, West Ham and anyone else who popped into his head.

Mind games are all well and good but some grace and class is also needed. Of course he winds other people up but for him to accuse this club of cheating (at a time when a lot of people were losing jobs at the club) and for us to then hire him not long after would be a disgrace. If he was appointed then i'd be hugely disappointed but unlike some (who I understand) I would get behind him as manager, just can't imagine chanting his name.

I just hope it's not true.

Are you serious :dunno:

If I was Neil Warnock I'd be looking for the FAPL board and taking each and everyone of them out for allowing that situation to occur. After 38 games you go down not because you were worse than everyone else but because a fashionable club illegally signed 2 players one of which carried the rest of the shilo to safety.

Get over yourself, so what if he bad mouthed us, we bad mouthed ourselves for christ sake.

Well I've read all the pros & cons for Colin and I have to say my depression is getting deeper. I'm totally unconvinced about him being manager of LCFC to the point that if it happens I'd seriously considering not getting a ST.

Help!!!

Neil is possibly older than you, show your elder's some respect, David. :D

when he finally got some cash together at sheff utd he was able to mount a serious promotion challenge

and got them up.

id welcome him to be fair above the likes of ince!!

get jagielka and tonge in to add some steel finally.

id rather have a team like sheff u's than citys recent shambles

Ah yes the steel that served to get Sheffield out of the Championship but failed at once to keep them in the Premiership.

If I wanted a blueprint for success I'd be looking much more to the example of Steve Coppell.

I don't know why Ince is even mentioned anymore. He'd not be popular for whatever reason and that's an end to it.

Quite amusing to read the bit about all Warnock's disputes on Wikipedia including :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Warnock

"Fans:

Leicester City - After Leicester restructured their debt after going into administration in 2002, they gained promotion to the Premiership, at the expense of United, who had to make do with a play-off place. After United failed to gain promotion Warnock revealed his anger at the Leicester situation. Incensed that City could have got into such a state yet continued to compete at the top of the table, with no punishment, Warnock complained to the press, claiming United should have Leicester's place in the Premiership and the club should have been relegated or booted out the League. Most Leicester fans saw this as sour grapes. Any team now going into administration is automatically deducted 10 points. "

Mixed feelings about Warnock really.

First though that comes to mind is willy puller.. but.. could he take us places??

He's about 5 months younger, and here's me sitting at home unemployed/retired because no fooker wants me and he's after a job that pays £750k / year. Not that I'm jealous mind. .

He just doesn't appeal, I don't like his style of football, he signed Akinbyi FFS, he threw away a 10 pt cushion in the Premier, there's plenty of reasons not to be excited.

I find it amazing that some of the anti-Warnock brigade actually wanted another outspoken manager at the helm of our club, namely Mike Newell. The difference is that Newell hasnt really done much in the success terms as a manager although simarly to some of teh other candidates for the job he had to sell his best players. However, his conduct in ripping people apart from agents to female football officials have been nothing short of disgraceful at times and he is definately a headless chicken. Wranock on the other hand has turned an unfashioable club and the second biggest within Sheffield into a club that has tasted premiership action and had not West Ham cheated and used there money to get them out of trouble would still be a premiership club.

I also think that far too many people latch on to other peoples opinions of people and take them as their own. Its almost like the Sun readers who joined in on slaughtering Beckham after he missed the peno or have ago at Sol Campbell for being gay just because a few rumours get started with little evidence. Warnock has suffered for years by bad press which gets exagerated and the Colin willy puller joke and thread title typifies how people seem to jump on the band-waggon without actually assessing the facts.

Do some research ona subject and check out the stats before judging someone FFS! He isnt all that bad is what I am saying!

Ah the aggressive 'holier then thou' attitude i've read so much about. Not really need, calm down.

As for am I serious? Well yes I am

Mouthing off about Liverpool playing an under-strength side against Fulham or the Man Utd team against West Ham not being strong enough for his liking? Can't remember which game it was when he dropped half of his first team because he didn't think they'd have a chance anyway. Hypocrit. Why not hold your hands up and say we didn't do enough on the last day, we let slip a 10 point safety buffer and as manager I take responsiblity.

As for his performance on the last day of the season? His time to get Sheff Utd promoted? His ability to irritate almost eveyone else in the game? Any comments on the rest or just on the obvious West Ham situation which everyone agrees with?

I agree that Mike Newell still has a lot to prove and don't want him here either. His outspoken criticism of football agents seemed justified at the time and I was praising his exposing them. The lack of evidence which followed worried me though. The rant about women was out of order and he's made a terrible name for himself.

I'm sure that Neil Warnock has a lovely caring side to him but his ranting and raving, post-match interviews and often disgusting attitude doesn't paint his professional life in that light (not going to comment on his personal life because I don't know, he may well be a great family man and friend). We can only judge the potential managers on what we see and I for one don't like what i've seen of him. Maybe if I was on the interview panel then I could give a more in depth analysis of the candidates but Milan hasn't asked me yet... :dunno:

Another one taken in by his wind up antics, he plays the media a treat and time and time again people fall for it. Even if he is standing up for his club and players and fighting their corner I fail to see the problem.

The game you speak about where he dropped half his side was the FA Cup when they lost at home to Swansea, didn't affect league standings at all.

I think you are wrong mate! Warnock has this season conducted himself superbly and unlike many managers around has been honest and had a smile on his face. Of course at times he has gone OTT but he is maturing finally (lol almost 60) but that too can be said of Alex Ferguson who used to come out with some cracking stuff and rant like a good un if things didnt go his way.

I thought he wanted to stay in the prem anyway? Apparently Coleman is going to Sheffield and Warnock to us. Theres only one Neil Warnock - this better be true

im with you on this i hope he comes, i have never liked the guy but hes got a lot of passion and i can see him getting us promoted

Antics? What antics does he play at the end of the season when his team have been relegated? He doesn't play the media a treat at all if he makes himself unpopular and a laughing stock by moaning about anything and everything. His attitude is like Jose but he hasn't won the Champions League and can't really back it up (Jose's similar attitude especially after the Champs League semi-final loss this year has also stopped being 'entertaining' and become rude and irritating).

He also dropped half his side in a league game to one of the top four teams. I remember listening to it on the way back from one of our away games...he basically said the players needed a rest. Fair enough. Except he won't let Liverpool do that before Champions League...

From Four Four Two

Were you actually any good as a player? My dad says that although you lacked pace, you certainly had your moments. Who in the modern game are you closest to in terms of how you played?

Jim Coker, via e-mail

Lacked pace? My only asset was that I did have pace. I was very quick but I was brainless. At Rotherham they used to shout "Open the gate!" when I was going down the wings, but I'd run out of breath before I got there. I got my brains as a player when I was about 31, but by that point my legs had gone. Who was I most like? Ronaldinho, only without the skill.

Another thing to praise warnock on is how he has managed to keep players like Tonge and Jagielka at Sheff Utd when you would have thought they would have moved on to more so called better clubs. That in itself is a skill as he they are very good players.
