holly Posted 6 June 2007 Posted 6 June 2007 Cant say i`m the slightest bit bothered that he has gone. We have better than him anyway
Number 6 Posted 6 June 2007 Posted 6 June 2007 We have paid over the odds for a lot of players in the past (Hammond and Fryatt two recent examples), it's nice to be on the other end. This is a great deal for a player who IMHO is not good enough for a championship team wanting promotion. I think bringing De Zeeuw in would be good, he is a class player, would just like us to bring in some players who don't get a free bus pass though. EDIT: Isn't the figure for Bent supposedly around the 18m mark, IMO worth it. Class player, natural goalscorer. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Simon Posted 6 June 2007 Posted 6 June 2007 Best bit of business MA's done so far. His heart was in the right place and he's an ok (ish) leader, but he's an utter bombscare. Never kicked on in the way I hoped he might. 500k profit on a player who IMO has barely improved since he came here is excellent business. Now use it to go entice Illic, Milan.
Ric Flair Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 The best deal since we conned Villa out of £1.3 million for Simon Grayson. I am just fearful for where this £650k will be used.

Dames Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Now i wouldn't mind seeing a decent quick center back being brought in.
Bluefoxtim Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Now i wouldn't mind seeing a decent quick center back being brought in. We've just signed N'gotty!

Master Fox Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 We Tried to Keep Paddy says Allen This quote from Martin Allen is quite funny, From the Merc: Allen said: "The club made Paddy a very good offer to stay, but he expressed his wishes to go. Of course, if he does not want to play for this club and be part of our success, that is his choice. I wish him well." Basically you can **** off then, oh and you’re shit
City Fan Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 The best deal since we conned Villa out of £1.3 million for Simon Grayson. Not forgetting when we conned Sunderland out of about £3million for Matty Piper, and when we conned Wigan out of about £2.5million for David Connolly!
Simi Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Not forgetting when we conned Sunderland out of about £3million for Matty Piper, and when we conned Wigan out of about £2.5million for David Connolly! £2.5 million was probably a good deal for both clubs at the time. But considering what we payed for him, we came of with the better deal I suppose.
shen Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Not forgetting when we conned Sunderland out of about £3million for Matty Piper, and when we conned Wigan out of about £2.5million for David Connolly! At the time £3mil seemed a fair deal. Fair enough, he was injured almost straight away, but we went bust shortly after too so we didn't get much joy out of those £3Mil. Connolly was an excellent deal, but we really have missed him since...
davieG Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Not forgetting when we conned Sunderland out of about £3million for Matty Piper, and when we conned Wigan out of about £2.5million for David Connolly! I seem to remember that Piper was being touted at a much higher price than that didn't Bassett say he wouldn't let him go for less than £10 mill? Sunderland actually had us over a barrel because of our impending administration and actuallt got him on the cheap, the lad didn't even want to go. The fact that he subsequently suufered with serious injuries doesn't put him in the 'conned' bracket.
City Fan Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 The fact that he subsequently suufered with serious injuries doesn't put him in the 'conned' bracket. No but the fact that we managed to get £3million for him when he hadn't played that many games for us and wasn't exactly spectacular does put him in the 'conned' bracket. Wigan were definitely conned when buying DC off us, £2.5million when we only payed £500K, he only went for that much because he scored a hattrick against Stoke!
theboywillmott Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Just had a look on Sky Sports and they have the transfer down as "an initial £650,000" so there maybe more to come! What a bonus if it's true.
Daggers Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Just had a look on Sky Sports and they have the transfer down as "an initial £650,000" so there maybe more to come! What a bonus if it's true. Only if it is part of a pay per point deal: where we receive more cash each time he points at something

hebangsthedrums Posted 7 June 2007 Posted 7 June 2007 Only just seen this, excellent bit of business - I would have taken anything over 50k. I would love to see how MA would do on cash in the attic!
