Blueandwhitearmy Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Mate, Fryatt won't be here. Oh well, in MAMM we trust. [/quote Theres alot of talk on BBC 606 website that fryatt may be goin preston?
City Lad Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 DJ will be on fairly hefty wages too. You don't spend £2.1million on someone and pay them in KP Dry Roasted. He used to play non-league football. Might not be as big as we may think
mancunianfox Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 £2.1 million He better get twenty goals after that kind of money is being spent. Would prefer Campbell over Billy unproven Sharp or Freddie overrated Eastwood though even at that money.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 He used to play non-league football. Might not be as big as we may think Nothing to do with it. If we're paying £2.1million for a player at a Premiership club it doesn't matter who he played for two and a half years ago.

High wages, but I doubt we'll be breaking the wage structure as I imagine we would for Fowler. Though its hard to know with figures between 8k and 22k being bandied about.

Bluefoxtim Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 He used to play non-league football. Might not be as big as we may think So did Ian Wright.
Ric Flair Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 £2.1 million He better get twenty goals after that kind of money is being spent. Would prefer Campbell over Billy unproven Sharp or Freddie overrated Eastwood though even at that money.Does slightly grate when you see how much Eastwood, Sharp and Stephen Elliott have gone for and we're paying more for Campbell. There were serious eyebrows raised when Brum paid £4.5 million for McSheffrey last summer, but he more than did the business. Let's hope DJ get's 15+ goals and there's a happy ending to this shit.So did Ian Wright. So did Alan Smith & Les Ferdinand. Both would of been on a wedge when they moved up the leagues and got busy with it.
Ashley Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 All we need now is Fryatt out, Fowler or McLeod in and I'll be happy. Fowler in then i'll be happy
Mickey O'Neil Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 IMHO Yes, I think £2.1 is a lot for DJ, but, this year the price of strikers is absurd (Bent £16m, Chopra £5m, Nugent £6m). In this context, it's probably about right. Looking at the price of Sharp, Earnshaw & Eastwood, then we've probably paid over the odds. But, we couldn't have competed with Wolves for the pikey as his heart was set on them from the start (lots of caravan parks in Wolverhampton!), we couldn't have competed with Derby because of the lure of premier footie. Maybe we could have tried for Sharp, I don't know. As for Fowler, the commercial side would benefit, but I'm unsure about the football side of things (I keep thinking of Keown & W*se ) Plus £1m a year wages is a lot for an unmotivated player. (I must admit, I did get slightly excited when they said on SSN that he'd rejected Sydney!) On the whole, I'm happy with DJ and can see him being a regular if we've paid that kind of money. Just hope he bangs 'em in. imho!
dandannieldanok Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Surprisingly pleased with this, DJ is an impact striker with a good goals to minute ratio, I hope MA gives him more first team opportunities than Bruce did.
Simi Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Nothing reported yet on Sky Sports News, hopefully it will be on, doubt it though.
Nick Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 on SSN -just announced daily mail report leicester have paid 2 million for dj.
Simi Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 on SSN -just announced daily mail report leicester have paid 2 million for dj. Yeh I saw that earlier, but it actually said we'd just had a bid accepted.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Maybe MacKay and Fuccillo didn't want to be associated with splashing out the GDP of a small African country on Birmingham's eleventh choice striker.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Maybe MacKay and Fuccillo didn't want to be associated with splashing out the GDP of a small African country on Birmingham's eleventh choice striker. Yes, maybe I don't blame them either.
Babylon Posted 20 July 2007 Author Posted 20 July 2007 Surprisingly pleased with this, DJ is an impact striker with a good goals to minute ratio, I hope MA gives him more first team opportunities than Bruce did. He has a fantastic goals to minutes ratio for Brum, "good" doesn't do it justice.

You know that's rubbish... it's their job to give names of players, not argue with the manager about who to buy.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 He has a fantastic goals to minutes ratio for Brum, "good" doesn't do it justice. Quite right, ripped off, paid over the odds, and bought for the wrong reasons do it justice.
Kent Fox Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Lates...1076055,00.html Hoo-ray! 145 posts in and we've manged to return to the beginning again.

Simi Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 If we do pay 2.1 million, Birmingham have made a gain of 1.6 million.
