lildave3 Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Yes de vries i think he can score a few this season and maybe come on as sub near end of game and score like Duncan Ferguson did for Everton. Yeah, because he's very similiar to big Dunc.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Get rid of Hammond and Fryatt, we are gonna be awesome this season in defence with kisnorbo, n gotty mattack, in midfield with clemence kaibi weso kishishev maybe hellings and up front with cort, dj, hume, de vries Fridgefreezer ove the best natural goalscorer (other than dj havent seen enough of him)??? Thank god your not the gaffer
Trumpet Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Im happy we've signed him, when he came on against us I felt he was a player who would cause us damage and or score against us. Good signing.
Brainy Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Good signing but 600k too much if we involve the add ons. I think he'll do well here. Doesn't seem like a very loyal player though. I'd like to see him stay here for the full four years, unless he turns out to be a flop that is

Brentford to Brum - again is a complete no brainer who would turn down the chance to play in the premiership when 7 months ago you was playing non league. And then Brum to here - Seen Birmingham were getting some other strikers in and knew he probably would only be a bit part player there so he decided to come here where he will more than likely have a prominant first team role
i luv u foxes Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 i think dj will become a big hit and score the goals which will help us give good go for promotion 2 million may be too much but if he gets 20 plus in the championship his worth the money up the foxes
Durnerz Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Feck me! No more than a few weeks back people on here were saying 'Whens Milan gonna splash the cash etc etc' now that we do on a player who has scored 13 goals in a promoted side despite limited opportunities under a complete boob of a manager people are complaining! Typical Leicester fans really, even if we beat Real Madrid 6-0 in the champions league final some of us would be saying 'but so and so should have made it 7'. DJ Campbell is just the kind of player we need and brings more goal threat to our frontline, along with Cort, Fryatt and Hume along with Clemence pulling the strings I think we are an improved attacking unit already. Hopefully this will be replicated on the pitch come August.
majestic fox Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 I think thats stretching it a bit!Overall good signing just a little over the odds on the price for me but I am splitting hairs Hopefully he'll add to the squad and make for more competition for places up front. his ink cartridge has dried up over the last year, after printing so many for yeading, he's just bought a new one though
Stevosevic Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Still expect another striker as MA said on sky "Robbie Folwer is an option but we are also looking at other strikers that are available." He was talking about how many strikers promoted teams usually have.
Bluefoxtim Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Just been on the official Birmingham message board. 4 pages of fans saying good luck, sorry to see him go etc...none of the 'good he's crap anyway'.. Most of them think it is a bargain for us as well...
evan Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 Having seen DJ play, as have many on here, you can tell the guy has that little bit of extra confidence needed to be more potent in front of goal...he believes in his own ability... when he goes clean through he thinks "right, this is going in you b*stards" NOT "shit everyone thinks i'll score, jesus, pretend there's no crowd...but they'll hate me even more if i miss again" (as elvis hits another straight at the keeper) In that respect DJ campbell has that bit of arrogance i think thats more in keeping with ian wright than emile for example....if emile had any killer instinct at all he'd be one of the premierships best strikers. i think dj will do well....keep fryatt though....just in case
filbertway Posted 21 July 2007 Posted 21 July 2007 People saying we need to get rid of Fryatt ahead of De Vries, crazy.
SydneyFC Posted 22 July 2007 Posted 22 July 2007 After some thought, I think DJ will prove to be a pretty good signing and will bag a few this season.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 I notice Adrian Boothroyd has admitted that we beat them to his signature (BBC website). "We missed out on DJ Campbell, so we are searching for a front man, but I am looking for players in all positions." With Hume dropping deep and DJ playing on the shoulder of the last man, I can see us looking very dangerous up front this season, especially away from home. I'd have stuck this fairly inconsequential little note in the DJ thread but it's been closed so you'll have to cope with this crappy new one instead.
Lord Nibblington Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 I love new threads me. They're full of thready goodness.

Geo V Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Apparently we beat a few clubs to DJ`s signature so it seems MA wasnt the only one to rate the player, even at that hefty price. DJ is the right age to not only improve at this level but to really make his mark. I reckon he`ll be a big hit next season if we can pass him the ball because the boy has pace and can finish!

Flynny Posted 24 July 2007 Author Posted 24 July 2007 Thats good to know. Martin Allen strike anyone else as pretty similar to Aidy Boothroyd?
Guest Posted 24 July 2007 Posted 24 July 2007 Thats good to know. Martin Allen strike anyone else as pretty similar to Aidy Boothroyd? Yeah only more amusing, more down to earth and less up his own ar5e. I think DJ will be a great signing, even if i did oroginally have some misgivings about the whole thing and can see both him and matty fryatt (let's not start on that one again) getting 15+ goals with the right service
