Ric Flair Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Exactly right, we'd be hireing a proven failure at this level. I usually agree with most of what you say, but exactly where has he failed at in this league? He achieved survival the first season in this league with Sheff Wed and then got sacked after a bad start, which he'd started to turn around if I recall? Ok, so he didn't pull up any trees and get Sheff Wed challenging for promotion on a shoestring budget like some have done, but he's hardly a failure either. His record at his other clubs bar Southampton is incredible. I must say though, i'm not overly keen on him coming here. I still think there are far better managers out there, but there's certain things that need to be taken in to account. I'd rather Sturrock than Iain Dowie.
The People's Hero Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 I'd rather Sturrock than Iain Dowie. Whilst we're playing this fun game... Syphilis of Gnorrheaea?
Ric Flair Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Whilst we're playing this fun game...Syphilis of Gnorrheaea? Chris Rea
The People's Hero Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Chris Rea I think I'd rather take the two STDs!

Well Saffampton are the only club anywhere near on a par with us, unless you count Wednesday, who as you say sacked him and experinced a rush up the table afterwards. He did an alright job at Plymouth I'll admit but that was a long time ago. I could of got Swindon up last year.
lookwhaticando Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Not a name I had even thought about. Not a name I expected to hear about, either. He wouldn't be my choice, although I'd rather him than a Roedent, a Smegson or a Dowie. That's not exactly saying much, though. He's hardly inspirational, but it doesn't look like we're going for inspiration this time around anyway. Oh well.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Very much unfounded rumour that citee have approached swindon for Paul Sturrock Mcsturrock----------another Mcleveine & mcmaghee!!!!!!!
Simon Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Not particularly pleased if we're going to settle for him. Would imagine he could be the kind of 'yes' man that Milan might want though.
Steven Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 A poster on TB, newtonfox, is claiming that he saw MM and Dowie walking into the Walkers together this morning. Now if newtonfox is winding us up then he is on crutches and should be easy to catch and deal with, else you heard it here first. http://www.talkingballs.co.uk/showpost.php...mp;postcount=97
swindon-dave Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Sturrock's awfull. You wouldn't want him at all, you'd be much better off with dowie/warnock/reid whoever. Honest
oundlefox Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Beeb now saying Swindon denying Leicester approach for Sturrock. Cov also saying Dowie rumour is a big load of BS. Swindon say any approach would not be welcome. I'd imagine that would be echoed by 30,000 odd Leicester fans too.

Steven Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 RN Fox and Newton Fox are usually the two members with all the inside info are they not? Usually. Dowie must have been to the Walkers before.

Just because Milan Mandaric chooses his managers because of the way their faces show up on TV?

That's what I'd do.

Stevosevic Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 It's not tapping up if we've been granted permission.
cheeros Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 Hi there, Leyton Orient fan here coming in peace. Was just wondering what you guys have heard about our current manager Martin Ling and possibly Assisstant Dean Smith being linked with the managers job at your club Someone who claims to have a family member working at the club on our board says that Ling has been in for interviews and that he is currently the most likely candidate for the job Id be gutted to see him go and I think most Orient fans would as he has improved our position every season since he got here, built a great squad and of course got us promotion from League Two So, do you guys know anything about it?
Brainy Posted 5 September 2007 Posted 5 September 2007 We had an Orient fan on the other night, said something about Martin Ling but I don't think he actually mentioned the possibility of him coming here.. Perhaps somebody else knows

You should be ok, Mandaric has come out and said that he wants someone with more experiance after Martin Allen so I doubt Martin Ling would be the sort of person that he'd be looking at. Unfortunately, we're more likely to end up with someone like Glenn Roeder or Neil Warnock rather than a young up and coming manager. Good luck for the rest of the season

Good luck for the rest of the season Thanks for the reply, youve eased a few Orient fans minds for this evening at least, were hoping to keep hold of him for the time being at least as the ambition at the club is higher than it has been in many many years Good Luck for the rest of the season, hope you end up with a manager who will do a good job for you, aslong as it isnt our Martin Ling

BristolBasedFox Posted 6 September 2007 Posted 6 September 2007 Garry Johnson (bristol city manager has apparently been seen at walkers!!!! News conference down here in Bristol this afternoon, expected to be that Johnson has signed a new contract at Bristol City, so I don't think much will happen on that one.
