Thinking of looking into that as a possible degree. What A levels did you take?

Maths, Economics and Geography. I dropped Psychology after AS, absolutely hated it. I wanted to do Government and Politics but my school dropped it cos they didn't have enough people for it

PPE at Oxford is basically politician training isn't it? I hope when you become a politician you'll continue to visit Foxestalk general chat and give us all including Rincewind a chance to influence policy.

I did Maths, Economics and Politics, but after good GCSE grades, I decided I didn't need to work too hard as I was naturally gifted. I ended up at Brunel instead of York. :(

Just finished my observation sessions at a primary school and got asked to dress up as Father Christmas for their Christmas meal. I got a horrible vision of some smart ass nine year old pulling down my beard in front of the school to see if I am real. I tried to do that when I was younger- I just know the karma will come back to bite me one day.

Considering A Level options now, my choices seem to be Maths, German, and two of History/English/Government+Politics/Philosophy. Would they be a good combination to keep PPE as an option, do you think?

Yeah they'd be good choices. It's kind of an unwritten rule that you need Maths to at least AS for Oxford(not actually a requirement) and some other unis require Maths. The only other requirement is Durham ask for a Humanities subject. You don't have to have done any of Politcs, Philosophy or Economics either. So yeah it doesn't really matter what subjects you take, just do what you enjoy cos then you have the best chance of doing well. You'll be in a great position with any of those subject combinations as long as you keep Maths

Wouldn't dare come back. MattP would hound me too much for being one of those 'career politicians' that he despises.

I actually think you'd make an excellent politician from what I've read of you on here.

Good luck with the interview mate hope it goes well.

Cheers for the advice, definitely something I'm considering. Best of luck for the interview.
