Geo V Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 CHERRIES boss Kevin Bond is resigned to being without the services of loan star Max Gradel for "some weeks".The 19-year-old is currently on compassionate leave in France following the death of his mother 10 days ago. Gradel returned to the family home in Paris after his mother had lost her fight for life following a road traffic accident. And although Cherries were hoping the on-loan Leicester winger would be back this week, his return is now likely to be delayed. Bond told the Daily Echo last night: "I had a conversation with Max today and it's a difficult one for him. "It was a one-parent-family situation in France and Max has got younger brothers and sisters to look after. "Max is the senior male in the family and his mother's death has put a lot of extra responsibility on his shoulders. "What eventually happens is anybody's guess and it could be put in the hands of the French social services so I think it will be some weeks before we see him again." Jeez, poor kid.
Thracian Posted 18 October 2007 Posted 18 October 2007 Sounds like an awful situation for the lad - and extremely challenging for one so young. I feel sure that our club and the club chaplain will try to help in every way that they can.

Mark Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Max has come back now, he's playing for Bournemouth tonight in the FA Cup against Barrow.. but unfortunately they are losing at home to them 1-2
Mark Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Gradel saves Bournemouth scoring a penalty in the 91st minute to make it 2-2. Max
Jimmy Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Gradel saves Bournemouth scoring a penalty in the 91st minute to make it 2-2. Max he practically had a scrap to take it tho
Thracian Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 That's the best news I've heard this season. I'm chuffed for the guy and hope he can go on now to realise his full potential and perhaps give his family something to celebrate after their desperate troubles. The sooner he's on our right wing the better.
sdb Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 just seen the highlights on SSN. he has huge issues with his temper!
brookfox Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 He has huge issues with his temper! Well if he can channel it into a winning mentality and not aggression for the sake of it then that's another plus!
hebangsthedrums Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 just seen the highlights on SSN. he has huge issues with his temper! How so?
Joe. Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007  He got into a right old argument with his team mate over who should take the penalty. It only just crept in as well.
sdb Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 yeh, it wasn't like the occassional penalty debate you often see - he had the ball under his arm and refused to let the pre-agreed taker to have it. he was like a little child. good he's got a little arrogance but it was also rather immature and petty
RowlattsFox Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Maybe he wanted to score so he could dedicate it to his mother or something Just had a quick look at a Bournemouth forum and they seem to be sideing with Gradel, they are glad Pitman didnt take it

Cobbo Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Well was a high pressure kick so for a young lad to have the balls to refuse to give the ball to a more senior players and then bag the peno is cracking. Good lad.
Wezleylowski Posted 20 November 2007 Posted 20 November 2007 Well was a high pressure kick so for a young lad to have the balls to refuse to give the ball to a more senior players and then bag the peno is cracking. Good lad. Agree. Quality Maxy

In normal cirumstances I'd say typical Max Gradel being a petulant twat. But given that he scored, he's recent loss, and the fact that Brett ****ing Pitman in the future might one day hope to be fit to clean Max Gradels boots (and thats says more about Pitman than Gradel) well done Gradel.

That and just wanting to experience the good feeling of scoring again after so much trauma.
danny. Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 nothing wrong with a lot of confidence, something our first team are lacking when does he come back to LCFC?
Manwell Pablo Posted 21 November 2007 Posted 21 November 2007 nothing wrong with a lot of confidence, something our first team are lackingwhen does he come back to LCFC? I think he's on season long and the fact he's played in the FA cup sort of backs that up. Gradel isn't just confident he's down right arrogant at times and it gets him into trouble. However the whole point in sending him away was to help him mature and with a bit of luck we might have a very good right winger in him next season.

Bournemouth fans seem to think it's only until January and are hoping they can keep him until the end of the season. Lots of votes for him being man of the match last night and the rest of the team last night should be ashamed of themselves as a young lad who's had to deal with what Maxi has had to deal with arrives back in the country 2 hours before kick-off and is the only player for them who was any good last night. They love him down there. I really get good vibes about Gradel being something a bit special.
