Longest it's taken you to find out a City result

Even when I've been abroad I've got the results soon via the BBC world service. In France, I could even get 5live

But in Jockland, some years ago, it took me about 4 hours to find out

I thought this would make a change from the current batch of inevitable threads. :D

FFF

PS. No jokes about how did we get on on Tuesday!

Coming home from Florida in Summer 2001, had to wait til we got back to Birmingham Airport on Sunday morning, got through baggage claim as quickly as possible (which isn't very fast), then ran into the arrivals newsagents, picked up the News of the World and saw the result "Leicester 0 Bolton 5"... not the best thing I've ever waited for.

lol

Thats Leicester for you

Don't know about results, but took me a while to know Kisnorbos goal at Scunny was diallowed. I was dancing around like a lunatic when a mate somehow got the message trough.

Mine too was when in Florida. It took me 28 hours to find out that we'd been beat 4-1 by Man Utd.

Remember I was on holiday in Menorca once during their off season, so basically couldn't find anything telling me how city did against wolves! Imagine my dismay when a passing footie fan told me we were 3-0 up, only to lose 4-3 :frusty:

A day later I found this out!!

Crystal Palace game last season, was up on the Gold Coast with no net connection, had to ring my old man and guide him through navigating the internet to find out the result.

He's like "Erm... Leicester one one Crystal Palace. What's that mean?"

<_<

lol I think this thread is funny

Back in the late 70s early 80s the only reliable method of getting results was a Telephone service (NO  not that kind of Phone Service!) but it gave only results from Weekend games and was available Monday Morning at about 9:00am (this is Sydney Time & Date) for about 6 hours. (recording then changed)

The only other way to get Mid-week & Weekend results was in the Sydney Morning Herald Sports results listings (back then, it was buried in the classified section) but that could be up to 2 or 3 days out (sometimes just missing).

I finally found a Newsagents who imported weekly English Football magazines which arrived every Tuesday (24 hours old?).

and don't start me on how rare it was to see a Game on TV. (mid 80s before we regularly saw the Highlights shows) :S

I imagine it will have been a time when I was on holiday, though we usually return before or close to the start of the footy season. The most recent time I can remember was Villa this season, where I was doing Biology fieldwork and couldn't get the score for 4 days. I was certain we'd lost but there y'are.

A few years ago we were playing Ipswich away and I was camping in St Davids with no phone signal or internet access. It was bugging me so much by about 7 I drove into the "town" centre to get a signal. A 6-0 loss! I took the position that cause I was in a different country it didn't count!

Three times on different occassions, went drayton manor but left phone at home when Leicester were playing, so didn't find out the result till about half 6 when I got home, not my car...we ended up listening to classic fm :( , anyway so on all three occasions got home at about 7 30 to find the score...

First time - Burnley at home (2004) 0-0

Second time - Ipswich at home (2005) 0-0

Third time - Plymouth away (this season) 0-0

Hardly worth wondering what the score is...

P.S if we need a 0-0 draw at any point i will welcome incentives to get myself up to drayton manor

Well we're 'entertaining' on Nov 3rd (LCFC live on Sky vs Colchester) As it kicks off at 5:20... and our guests arrive at 5... I'm recording it and going to watch it "Live" on Sunday afternoon (when they've gone!!!). So that'll be, like, 20 hours late! :(

Back in 2001 I was coming home from Saudi Arabia and I had to wait till I landed at Heathrow Airport and pick up the papers and found out we had beaten Spurs 4-2.

I had that but the other way around.

On the way to Greece with the family and got there and managed to find another Leicester fan who told me the score.

Lovely start to the holiday.

Found out we'd won the 1997 League Cup the morning after cos I was in Malta and couldn't find a bar anywhere showing it.

Found out we'd lost 5-0 at home to Bolton about 7 hours after it happened cos I was on the way back from Paris.

Those are the only times I can recall not knowing a result straight away.

Was on the way back from Fuerteventura when we were away at Sheffield United on the first day of the season a couple of years ago. I think it was 1-1 when we got off the plane at Amsterdam to change to a connecting flight, then got three updates in 10 or 15 minutes saying they'd scored three goals to make it 4-1. FFS.

I left the pub at 1-1 (it was on Sky) to play cricket. Got 45 not out so was pleased with that.

Then found out we'd been beat 4-1.

Took the shine off of an otherwise good day.

In San Fransisco i was told by one of my friends who had spoken to his parents it was 3-0 against wolves. Not until I rang my dad the next day did i find out ti was 4-3 :(

I was at the leeds festival in 2004 we played Wolves at molineux and drew 1-1, it took about half an hour to find out the score but being so smashed i kept forgetting. :S

I didn't find out about Tuesday's game until Wednesday morning as I went out and my bastard phone broke so I couldn't find out until the next day. Turns out that I probably would have broken my phone anyway had I heard/seen the score that night.

What was the score on Tuesday night? i was so bored i fell asleep 10 minutes in. With the lack of singing and noise i didn't wake back up again.
