Bedford Fox Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 By Sky News SkyNews - Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has admitted not knowing people speak English in London. The NFL player might want to check a map before he gets on board a plane for Sunday's prestige game against the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium. Crowder, who comes from Atlanta in Georgia, may be praised on the field, but confessed geography was not his strong point. He admitted he did not know until now where London was - or that Londoners spoke English. "I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries," he said. "I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that." Crowder added: "I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him. "That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name." The Miami Dolphins are play the New York Giants at Wembley this Sunday in the first NFL regular-season game to be played outside the United States.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 Saw this on the Yahoo news. Footballers aren't famous for their genius, but AMERICAN footballers take the biscuit it seems Grid Iron Goon Geography My favourite part is that he thinks that his friend couldn't possibly be from London, cos he's black!
placidcasual Posted 26 October 2007 Posted 26 October 2007 The benefits of a University of Florida education.

Rincewind Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 what do you expect when in baseball the World Series only involves American team. Some Americans think they are the world.

You'd be amazed how very little about world geography some americans know. To be fair, there are some very intelligent americans who know plenty more than i ever will about everything, but when i was over there a few years ago, i was asked " which part of Britain is Holland in?"
Uncle Monty Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 come on give him a break, its not as if we have never heard of a stupid sportsperson.
MPH Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 come on give him a break, its not as if we have never heard of a stupid sportsperson. i could probably find the U.S on a map.... new york as well for that matter... ( The City not the state!)
Lillehamring Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 what do you expect when in baseball the World Series only involves American team. Some Americans think they are the world. apart from the blue jays... and when did a non-british person last win the snooker world champs?
Guest Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 apart from the blue jays... and when did a non-british person last win the snooker world champs? Cliff Thorburn wasn't it?
Alexikokopops Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 apart from the blue jays... and when did a non-british person last win the snooker world champs? Ken Doherty 1997.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 apart from the blue jays... and when did a non-british person last win the snooker world champs? Comparing the American world series to the Snooker World Championship is a bit silly really isn't it. Seeing as comeptitors from at least 8 different countries have participated in the past. Any one good enough can play, it's just that the British are the best at it. Where as ther World Series is completley different.
Rincewind Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 I take it that the Blue Jays are Canadian and not from another continant. I suppose the name 'World Series' was used in the early days and noones thought of of a better name.. I don't think enough countries play baseball to invite others. Its populay in Japan but nowhere near the standard I would imagine to progress far.
Finnegan Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. OUCH! I bet that pissed a LOT of people off. Thank fook it was one of these NFL numpties and not one of the basketballers that said that, else there'd probably have been riots.
