Fulop

I'd be surprised to see Milan forking out that kind of cash. To be fair we'd probably be better getting an old premiership goalie in and saving the money for midfielders.

We cannot afford to lose Fulop. We'd be even further in the shite right now if it wasn't for his performances!

If we can sanction spending £1.5m in a 31 year old Steve Howard (32 before e.o.s) who is only going to depreciate in value whilst he's here then there should be no problem spending £3m on a 24 year old (young for a GK) who is surely going to increase in value with regulat football under his belt.

I'm sure Sunderland would accept £2.5m anyway

If it means we use up our transfer budget then maybe we shouldn't have been in such a rush to pay out £1.5m for Howard. Fulop should have been a priority singning ahead of Howard!!

Portsmouth?

OK, so you mean whats he done here? Well, hes backed all his managers with money, what more can they ask?!

Just because he hands managers some cash doesn't mean he knows what he's doing. He quite clearly makes it up as he goes along.

Didnt Holloway say we've got a premiership budget to spend in this transfer window? which normally is around £8m-£10m + ?

I personally think he is...

BUT

If we spent 3 mil on Fulop that would bring our transfer spending in this window to 4.5 mil. I reckon that's pretty much close on Ollie's total budget for the ENTIRE window- being as he feels we need to strengthen in other areas you can see why he's loathe to blow 3 mil on a keeper. It's a difficult choice.

Not if you sell a few as well.

I can think of several.

For me, the bottom line is that, if we can spend £1.5mil on Howard, then i see no reason why we couldnt come up with a deal that would land Fulop.

Fulop, an excellent keeper, probably looked all the better because of the poor keepers we've had in the last few years. Believe it or not, there are other goalkeepers out there capable of staying calm and resolute, and keeping goalkeeping simple. Fulop would perhaps be the best available option out there, but there are keepers who could be a 200% improvement on Henderson and not break the bank. I don't think we need to piss away £3m on a goalkeeper when the whole team needs sorting and we're already spending a lot of cash on transfers and wages.

If we don't get Fulop it'll be a shame definitely but £3 million is a lot of money.£3 million could buy a really good creative midfielder Something we are more in need of. I'm sure there are other good goalkeepers out there who we could buy for less.

I can see us getting him for something like 2.2 million, with a couple of extras included in that.

When Barber asked if it was dead, Holloway said something like "pretty much at the minute, yeah".

Which means no. We'll definitely put a better offer in.

IH blabbing about the size of the budget he'd been given surely will not have helped ; ok, everyone knows MM is worth a few quid, but its best to keep what he's prepared to spend on his "hobby" a bit quiet

Too true, midfield is first priority and there are definitely goalkeepers out there that would be good for us. I'm sure if we enquired about Jamie Ashdown at Pompey, just to name one possibility, we'd get a quote less than £3m and he is just as good as Fulop IMO.

I'd be happy if we got him for £2million, If they want £3million could we not perhaps give and initial £2million and make another million up in add odds?

Obviously it's up to Sunderland don't know why i'm asking the question on here! lol

We need Fulop, end of.

Just pay the man.

We need him badly, he has been brilliant and was clearly sorely missed today, as he was at the Forest abandoned game when Henderson's inability at dealing with crosses was highlighted...

That's a fair point. No-one is indispensable here.

Except Fulop

It's not as easy as that though is it?!

Fair enough you can think of several who you'd like to offload as I can, and as Ollie has told players to try and find other clubs, However name several players who other teams would be willing to buy?

If you offered players out on free, other teams may be tempted, but I use tempted very loosely and that's on a free.

The advantage of offering players out on free is we'll lower the wage bill and free up funds to spend that way but offering players out on frees is the only way I see of us offloading players.

Sell Kisnorbo 2.5M/3m = play McAuley & N'Gotty = buy Fulop

Yes, he did.......what an idiot............why on earth did he feel he had to say that.............sounds to me he has less inner confidence than the players he's been rollocking

I think we could get him for £2-3 million. That's still be a tidy profit for them for what they originally paid for him.

With a few clauses here and there I think we'd be looking at just over £2 million.

blabbing about his budget pretty much proved to me what a tw@ he is

sorenson?

Surely he wouldn't break the bank.

3Mill is a lot for a GK

If we get a very good offer for Hume, Kisnorbo or Weso i'd s

I'd question Milan's ambition if we dont sign Fulop for the 3 million asking price, sod whatever budget he may be working to. We need several quality installments just to fend off relegation, we'll need several more to mount a serious challenge for promotion and we'll also need sign more if we go up.

Whats the point of having a multi-millionaire owner if you cant splash the cash?, we all know Fulop is quality.
