stevie909 Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 1-0 ''we could do better' ''he's past it and overweight''
Bryn Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 fooking woeful finish but they all count, ask Stevie Claridge
WetFlannel Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Ill have no disrespect towards Hayles finishing in here
Stevosevic Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 He was one of our best players tonight, and was against Norwich. I dont care how old he is, hes making an impact.
Lillehamring Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 i'm glad he scored, even tho i missed it ( ) but i actually thought, apart from a patch early on, that he was really ineffective for most of the game, thought he disappeared, considering they way everyone else played i thought he was our worst player, over all... but he scored, so he's done his job... i think with campbell back and hume clearly desparate to play, he'll be back on the bench soon.
MC Prussian Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Well, we have options. Again. Just in time for the vital 6-pointer against Blackpool.

His goal was a rocket... Keeper had no chance
ronnup Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Worked his arse off and did a fair bit of defending. Was there to score. Easy to see why Ollie bought him. Passion and work ethic, very much needed to create an ethos of winning and wanting it tonight.
WetFlannel Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 I bet hes also doing alot of stuff off the pitch aswell...
Unabomber Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Whatever anyone says about him he scored when it really mattered and we have not had anyone doing that for a while.

Finnegan Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 He was shit tonight. How was he man of the match? Useless. I'd have had him off for DJ Campbell and Hume off for Bori, to be honest. Not that Zsolt was stunning but he was better than both of those two. I hope we don't have some "chosen men" situation here where Hayles can't do a thing wrong. Bori added a real touch of class when he came on, I thought - why is Holloway sticking a "square peg in a round hole" in Iain Hume when he could just have well have had him up front with Howard from the start? I don't care if he scored, have some realism and perspective and look at the bigger picture. Do you REALLY want Howard and Hayles starting every game up top?
Guest shearfox Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 It seemed like forever for that ball to dip in to the net, it may not have been the best of touches but thats all that cross needed, hayles got in front of his man and got that all important touch.
MikeyT Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 I dont think he knew an awful lot about the goal, it just bounced of him! But they all count and i'm happy with that!
Jonezy Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 For most the game Hayles was the only one running off the ball. He was constantly in the thick of action, and he kept running all game. To top it off he also bundled home a late winner. How can you ask more from the guy? I thought he was our best player.
sdb Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 he worked hard although i must admit i wanted him off rather than hume. good move ogmonster!
MPH Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 when we signed Howard and Hayles i said that i believed Hayles would score more goals this season than howard.. Would be interesting if he did... Doesnt matter how they go in... it would be hard to drop him after scoring..
AyewJoking Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Couldnt see the reason in him still being on the pitch.........unless he was gonna score.
syston_fox Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 I dont know whats best about Hayles goals - the fact that neither has had the power to reach the back of the net or the embarrassed goal celebration...

Bit stunned at some of the ratings he's getting.
WetFlannel Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 Hayles' job is to score goals and thats what he did. Alot of class strikers do bugger all a match and stick home an important goal, and he was the difference in a very close match. He also got back and helped out a bit, and his fitness is top class for someone of his age.
reynard Posted 28 January 2008 Posted 28 January 2008 No way was he shit tonight. Ok he may not be fantastic but he worked hard and got into the right place to score the winner in the 90th minute. I didn't think anyone was shit tonight but the nearest to it was Hume who of course can never do any wrong! Hayles wouldn't have been my first choice signing but at the moment he's doing all that has been asked of him.
