AoWW Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Sleeping for 14 hours. I've just done it (not bad going for someone who usually struggles to do more than 4 hours) and I feel utterly shite still.

Daggers Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Our NHS is so shit Spent 5 days in hospital, and boy am I glad to be back home. Sorry, not my experience. My lad was operated on today and his treatment was nothing short of brilliant. The nursing staff even gave him a Simpson's Easter Egg. The other parents on the ward were a bunch of cnuts. All the children were Nil-by-mouth and yet these twats were sitting around eating crisps and drinking coke...and then started acting up worse than children when they got bored. Aside from the poor spawn of these people suffering, so did the nursing staff - my hat goes off to them.

I personally thought it was atrocious - However, I thought the nursing staff were good to me, no complaints there. The problem I had was that I was in such sheer pain and was waiting for a scan whether I was suffering from appendicitis or not, but I had to wait 4 long days for it. I was also Nil-by-mouth but they could not set a date on when the scan would take place - I just had to wait for it basically

I appreciate that this diet would become tedious over five days...but not if you are 7 I think we all had a good argument about this last year. My position was that for the few pennies it costs to make the food it's nutritionally balanced and good value...and I'm not paying out of my pocket for people to have a hotel experience. When you are in hospital you are there in order to get better - not to be waited on hand and foot. Considering ill people would have spent money on food if they had been at home I see no reason why friends and family can't bring in food when they visit. Slagging hospitals for their food provision strikes me as misplaced priorities tbh.
